gMaps updated, still the best option for Google Maps on WP7
For those of you on Windows Phone, Bing is your default maps provider, but maybe Bing just doesn't do it for you and you need a more Googlish solution. If so, gMaps is the way to go. gMaps is an unofficial Google Maps app for WP7 that offers a number of nice features.

gMaps offers many of the same options you'd find in Google maps, including:
  • layers support so you can have satellite view, simplified map, public transport and even traffic information
  • GPS tracking and directions
  • Places search with Place pages and geo location data
  • Driving mode
  • Imperial & metric measurements
  • Zoom buttons

And, there are some extra features that not even official versions of Google Maps have, like theme support and the ability to take and share screenshots.

It's definitely a nice app, and there is both a free version and a paid ($1.99) version if you don't want display ads.

Bing does all that you need, but always nice to have options.

I've tried a few google-ish maps. None of them have the one single feature I've been looking for- street view- I really miss that feature from the iPhones maps. However I have found bungle maps is a high quality alternative and the drive on app as well. Both have several layers of bing and Google maps.
