OnePlus confirms the name of its next flagship phone, says it will launch it this summer
Putting an end to rumors and speculations, OnePlus today confirmed to The Verge that its next flagship smartphone will be called OnePlus 5. Moreover, the company said that the handset would be released this summer - we're talking about the Northern Hemisphere summer here, so the device will likely hit shelves sometimes between June and August.

OnePlus has a certain reason for not naming its next phone OnePlus 4 (as this should normally succeed the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T). In China, the company's home country, 4 is considered an unlucky number that can mean death. Of course, some may view this as a silly superstition (including this very author, who was born on the 4th of March and has been alive for quite some time now), but, hey, it's OnePlus' decision, so we'll just have to respect it.

OnePlus hasn't confirmed anything else about its next-gen flagship. Rumors have it that the smartphone will feature a Snapdragon 835 processor, a whopping 8 GB of RAM (at least on some variants), up to 128 GB of storage space, and a 23 MP dual rear camera. It remains to be seen how much of this is true. Earlier today, we spotted a OnePlus 5 concept, but there's no way of telling if this is what the device will actually look like.

Are you excited about the upcoming launch of the OnePlus 5?
