I like all kinds on phones and devices, they make me think about the future and how fast it is evolving. I like and dislike things about all OS weather its a Android device, IPhone, or Windows Phone. I may every now and then bash something about any of the 3 major types of phones, but I don't like to bash on anyone who like's something I don't use. I do trash talk fan boys who push the issue about how great their product is, I stand behind my Photon 4G for reasons I purchased it for. It might not be as fast as the SGS2 or have a screen like the iPhone 4/4s, but it suits me for what I like and need.

that's the problem, nothing really sets it apart. I'm not a WP hater at all, I'm glad there's more competition for ios and android. Unfortunately there isn't really anything that WP has that makes me want it. As much hate as android gets for being "fragmented" it's not an issue for the typical user. Hardware wise, wp7 leaves a lot to be desired. Nokia phones do seem promising though :).

I'm rooting for wp7 though, I really want to see what Microsoft can do to get it more competitive.

have you spent some time with it? its an exellent and easy to use system.
Sales for Q1 should show real promise. If my localized example is indicative of what is happening over all, there should be a nice spike in WP7 sales for Q1 2012 when the numbers come out. The Lumia 710 is selling better than everything other than the SGS1 and SGS2 in my store. That hasnt happened with any windows phone so far. Now that it has navigation and most of the main apps across the platform, its an easy sell. Cant wait to see what apollo brings to the table.

hardware wise, wp7 has absolutely no problem.. u cant compare it to the hardware needed to run android, because while dual core android phones are (mostly) unlaggy, single core wp7 phones are buttery smooth…

part of the allure of wp7 is actually using it.. i discounted it until i decided to try it, and it is my favorite os ever.. for anyone who doesnt need tons of apps (which is why i sadly had to give up wp7) it is a fantastic platform

Agreed. We rarely if ever get anyone looking for windows phones in our stores but when people actually do ask its usually for a very specific work related need and even then most are instantly turned off by the awful ugly bland ui.

people are turned off by how you present it. if someone says to me "easy to use" "not too pricey" and "smartphone" in the same conversation, i show them the lumia 710 and the galaxy1. At this point id say they are 50/50 for purchases between them (for those that dont specify android), which is impressive.

if its not ugly, there would be no need to talk it up. It would speak for it self. I like nokia and will most probably be loyal for now. But one thing still holding me from getting a Nokia windows phone is the look of the UI. I am still waiting for the last great symbian, and that is what i'll leave my N8 for.

ugly is eye of the beholder. it's a little plain but some people want that. if/when they start allowing a little more creativity for the user with the tiles that could help. I'd like the ability to change individual tile colors or switch between interactive and plain tiles for each app.
we used to have to talk up Android when it was new and no one knew what it was. its just par for the course for a new OS. most customers come in for an education .. few are pre educated on the phone.

You have a point? Explain to me why everytime I go into a TMo store they try to stair me towards a Android device? With your logic that would mean Android is an ugly piece of crap that requires constant talk'n up?

I believe what's being examined here is if you're not familiar with WP phones take a look and see if it's for you. Because there are many people out there that believes WP phones are Windows Mobile Phones.

But truthfully it gets even simpler; if you prefer Android products then go buy them buy the truck loads. If you like iOS then stock up on those as well. If you don't like WP then that's ok too I have yet to read anything from Microsoft stating you must like a WP phone.
