0. phoneArena posted on 05 Feb 2013, 05:43

While it's a popular fact that the BlackBerry 10-powered devices have the ability to run Android applications, it's a less popular fact that the user experience with those applications is quite dissatisfactory...

Gingerbread on a gs2 is VERY responsive and the ui is leaps and bounds ahead if iOS ray.

Fully agree.

thanks for spreading the truth bro.....because i remember gingerbread not being that bad.....sounds a bit exagerated here

5. jroc74 posted on 05 Feb 2013, 06:09 7

Ya know...I actually stopped reading when I got this this part:

"Right now, it's based on the ancient Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which we all know is one terrible OS as far as user experience and responsiveness goes"

And had to come and comment....

Wow. That update made my Droid X1 a better phone. It was one reason I held on to it longer. Android has gotten better with each version. There is no way in hell someone is gonna tell me Android 2.3 was worse than 1.6....if you wanna talk about user experience and responsiveness...lets talk about Android 1..or..1.6. Compare that to 2.3...and lets see how you feel about 2.3.

Wow...

Its amazing the ways ppl describe things when it comes to these OS's....or just most things in life.

I have a galaxy s2 and gingerbread kinda sucks . Should have gotten a Galaxy Nexus . I know 2 of my friends with their gs2 still stuck in gingerbread., I feel so bad for them because the phone always give them error .
What you say is exaggerated !
I'm now running cm10 and I will never go back to stock ROM

10. XPERIA-KNIGHT posted on 05 Feb 2013, 06:26 2 3

well maybe that is just YOUR friends experience and problems as you can see that numerous people here just gave there experience and thoughts on gingerbread..........rendering your individual experience a bit less relevant to what we were talking about

There is this one time . My camera kept force closing . I tried restart and it doesn't work . Finally I fixed it by pulling out the battery .
I don't care how many thumb I get , truth is gingerbread ducks compared to iOS 5 .
But there is one thing for sure, jelly bean is a lot better than iOS

That's well n good comparing GB to iOS. I was comparing GB to earlier versions of Android.

You might be comparing apples to oranges....

22. jroc74 posted on 05 Feb 2013, 16:48 1

And congrats to comparing an OS update from Dec 2010 (GB) to one from Oct 2011 (iOS 5)

ICS was released in Oct 2011 tho....

14. frydaexiii posted on 05 Feb 2013, 06:42 2

Yeah, Gingerbread is probably the most stable and most used Android OS, kinda like the Windows XP of Androids.

21. shirtlessrabbit4 posted on 05 Feb 2013, 16:03

Nice way to put it!

26. phonemirer posted on 06 Feb 2013, 06:14

well, it seems ok. Too bad that i live in a place that is filled with ifans, one even suggested that 4s is better than my note, ha, 4s is better than s2 in some ways like ppi, camera but s2 is bigger and looks better and isnt overpriced so...
note 1 > s2 > 4s
also, i can see i5s obsolete before it is launched because it will just have a bit better processor and better camera, apple is still stuck in the mid of 2012 because
s3 w jb > i5
apple products are frauds

Gingerbread awful? The apps run even smoothly on playbook... oh Ray, you should understand more than that lol

7. wendygarett (limited) 5 days ago posted on 05 Feb 2013, 06:14 5 1

And dear Nikolas.Oliver, this is what we call the open source platform...

Now can you please admit that the bb10 is awesome? :)

6. jroc74 posted on 05 Feb 2013, 06:13 4

Now I got another question. What does Android devs porting Android apps to BB10 ...have to do with this?

Arent they porting them to run under BB10...and not this? Someone with a lil more info on this...please help me understand.... If this is how Android apps are running on BB10 after devs ported them over.....IMO its a waste to even port them over.

9. wendygarett (limited) 5 days ago posted on 05 Feb 2013, 06:25 1 1

If you are an apps developer, you will figure it out, who should I choose 1st? Ios or android? thanks to the port, you will choose android 1st right?

Because it's like killing two bird in one stone, and Google will definitely happy to port to in order to attract apps developer...

choose android, free blackberry!!! Lol

11. Xtasy posted on 05 Feb 2013, 06:30 1 4

Blackberry doesn't need apps to sell lol... Only a few apps are actually useful anyway. I used and downloaded apps on my samsung galaxy tab and after a few weeks got so tired of it...The games etc it's for children

18. rusticguy posted on 05 Feb 2013, 08:42

Would be pertinent to ask how many of those billion apps Ray has on his phone :)

12. ilia1986 posted on 05 Feb 2013, 06:35 2

Ray S. , have you ever used an android 2.3 device? Particularly one with a dual core processor? It's still very very fast and responsive. Definitely not terrible.

I hope for your sake that this isn't just an excuse to make yet another cheap shot at android. The amount of incidents in which the editors of this site have been accused as iOS fans and android haters is too damn high already.

16. Rexperia posted on 05 Feb 2013, 07:43 1

Poor Ray... he must be drunk when he wrote this article.... so please tell me, whic was the awful of the droid GB...

17. rusticguy posted on 05 Feb 2013, 08:40 1

Gingerbread is far ahead of even iOS6 ... basically this article looks more like an attempt to ensure that BB fails ... really doesn't mater what bloggers say ...

19. protozeloz posted on 05 Feb 2013, 09:13

Why they keep trying at this?

20. Veigald posted on 05 Feb 2013, 11:21 1

Well, gingerbread sure was horrible in my book. I remember looking at a friend's HTC Desire and liking it, and later got it for myself as a company phone. The lagginess, crashes, freezes and force-closes of that phone made my thoroughly hate both Android and HTC. If people are now saying gingerbread was the most stable of Androids... wow.

And btw, isn't gingerbread still the most common Android version out there?

23. jroc74 posted on 05 Feb 2013, 16:51

I wouldn't say the most stable...but it wasn't as bad as some ppl make it.

24. roscuthiii posted on 06 Feb 2013, 02:05 2

I still can't figure out how this guy retains employment at PA.

25. phonemirer posted on 06 Feb 2013, 05:53

i didnt notice my gnex faster from 4.0.4 to 4.1 and 4.1.2 but when i jumped to 4.2 it was noticeably faster even going from one desktop to another , i could pass 3 in a sec
