YouTube mobile views tripled throughout 2010 to reach the astonishing average of 200 million views per day, YouTube Mobile Product Manager Andrey Doronichev announced. As more people watch video on their mobile devices, YouTube is rolling out some updates bringing pre-roll ads on the Android version of its YouTube 2.0 app.
Although this might be great news for Google's partners, smaller screens might suffer from the limited screen space. Ads are confidently stepping in the mobile field and are expected to grow over the $1 billion mark in the US in 2011.
The Android YouTube app also got support for the VEVO music library, which contains tracks from artists like Lady Gaga and Rihanna. Froyo is required for viewing the music videos, which will be enriched with biographies and other data about the song and the artist.
