It's not side-loading, it's backwards-loading: a backwards process for a backwards OS.

Can I do this? No. Can't do that.
How about this? No. We can't allow it.
This? Nope.
How about this? Uh-huh, no.

Screw that, I'm gone for good to the other side of the fence.

And they killed Symbian, MeeGo and Meltemi for THIS? For THIS? This piece of s**t with Live Tile sprinkles that are glorified sub widgets that don't really function quite well?

No thanks. Not buying. Moving along.

Come on.. really is it that hard to figure out...

It's for business and enterprise applications that are sensitive or expensive. That they don't want in the Marketplace at all.. and will have a small captured device use.

They are FINALLY replacing WindowsCE applications and enterprise hardware.

I didn't know people had more than 8 gigs of games on their phones. That should be more than enough for most customers. The majority of memory needed is generally for photos, videos, and music.

Will 64GB cards work?

Still criticize the Symbian! Almost since that Symbian exists we can install applications on expandable memory. Today still there are operate systems that don't allow this option, like Windows Phone and Ios. Only could be the systems of the mobsters!

That's very true!! every time I install an app on my Symbian phones, I get the option of phone memory, mass memory, or memory card. That's why Symbian has always been the best, is the best, and will be the best!!

android and ios are mere children's toys. But, I really hope that Windows Phone 8 will eventually improve to become as capable as Symbian!

So, if you have 16 GB of storage on your phone, and put in a 32 GB memory card, you can store 32 GB worth of movies, music, videos, and pictures, and 16GB of apps.

Which is ...... Bad? Somehow?

It is strange, I will spot you that. But 16GB even for heavy gamers is plenty, isn't it? I am not offended by this. It isn't something that will detract from the experience. If you change devices, you can redownload your apps anyways. And your personal photos and such come with you on your memory card.

Seriously guys you are pathetic!

Who needs to install apps on SDcards?!?! I never did that and never will!
It's completely against logic and stability of the phone experience!
Suppose that your SD got dead in the middle of the day what would you do?!

Always use SD for data/photos/storage/media etc...

(BTW i'm an android fan!)

I think that is fine. apps installed on SD card can run slow, storage is for data only.

THIS IS JUST RIGHT

case:
pc hard drive = mass storage for phone
flash drive(USB)/CDs = memory card for phone
computer games = apps for phones

>>I THINK YOU GET THE IDEA NOW... installing/playing it on permanent drives are better(i guess even the security of it).. also, a great +1 that you could put those installers at your mem card aswell (backup purposes, etc.,you decide)

My guess the decision was to avoid degrading the user experience - Some time or another we've all seen apps installed on SD card slow down or lag to a certain extent. Having them installed on phone memory will avoid this.

Not being able to put games on my SD card isn't that big of a deal to me, I don't play games that much, and I save my SD card for my jango music and all my videos.

Pa you guys should change the name of this article, very misleading.

Microsoft why do you have to be strange on the range. I hope you dont do this on your surface tablet computer. Microsoft the desktop PC and laptops use DVD read and writ drives on them for people to put programs, Music Videos, Documents and games in and out of the computer. Microsoft today flash memory is the way to go
are your technology people slow or retarded your smart phones and tablets need to be able to read and write data to different types of flash memory Media or else they will be useless to some people Damn why do you want to weaken your product be fore it even hits the market. you need a new technology staff the guys you have now
made a good "surface tablet" but damn don't they know it needs a medium to put data in and out of the the Tablet or smart phone let us know the reasons for this action
