Xperia Z2 camera, media and phone apps ported to older Xperias (root req'd)
Well, that didn't take long - as soon as the Xperia Z2 system dump appeared, the set of camera, media and phone apps that come with the new flagship, has been ported to all Xperia smartphones, running Android 4.3+.

From the set of Camera Apps, this includes Creative Effects, AR Effect 2.0.4, and Background Defocus 1.1.7. Media handling is represented by the Walkman and Movies applications, while the calling functions can be upgraded with the Answering Machine app.

It goes without saying that these ports are available for rooted devices only, so if you have a rooted Xperia Z, Z1, Z Ultra, and the like, you might want to give those a shot. Check out the source links below, if you are interested in porting some of the Xperia Z2 software goodies to your 2013 Xperia.

Oddly enough, I love the rear side of this Z2 but what I'm really wondering is if Sony will ever create a device that doesn't have the bezels the size of a device from 2011 :/

The bezels on the Xperia Z2 are already quite thin

The side bezels are quite thin on the Z2
However the top and bottom bezels are huge, its nearly a cm taller than the G2.
I hope the Z3 has thin top and bottom bezels as well, like the ZL.

If you want a waterproof phone you must endure those bezels, if not you can go for ZL which has the slimmest bezels among smartphones, even slimmer than G2.

Go and see it in the size comparison here in phonearena and you will notice that the ZL is indeed a small bezel phone

The pictures don't really do it justice. They're pretty slim.
