Xperia Z2 and Note 3 screens get compared on video, guess which one looks more vivid

0. phoneArena 17 Mar 2014, 04:15 posted on

The Xperia Z2 is unlike the other Zs in Sony's flagship lineup, as it sports an IPS-LCD display, instead of the subpar twisted nematic (TN) LCD tech of its predecessors. Bad viewing angles, and washed out colors, are the most common complaints in the Xperia Z and Z1 reviews, and Sony has remedied the situation with the excellent panel on the Z2...

Vivid? looks way way over saturated to me.... Amoled still wins

I think photo #3 was super over saturated on the Z2 but beat the Note 3 in photo #2. There's no way to see the color accuracy of a picture without a reference photo.

If it is saturated, it will create yellowish tint on it. But sony maintains a cool effect on it so its vivid!! Compare to Amoled even the skin tone is super yellowish compare to natural skin tone on Triluminus

Like I have said many, many times before... If the Sony Xperia Z2 comes out for Verizon Wireless here in the U.S. it will be my wife's phone for sure.

Myself I am waiting for the Google Nexus 6 & the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. IMAGINE the Google Nexus 6 OR the Note 4 being waterproof.

My mind is going crazy thinking about this...

Great to see Sony finally getting their displays and speakers right. Hope they carry on doing the same with their other midrangers...

I think every manufacturers should use at least IPS LCD even for the low end phones.

Is S-LCD cheaper than IPS-LCD? Because I used to own a HTC One V, and the screen was magnificent

If I'm not mistaken the S-LCD is the eighth generation panels based on PVA technology which is produced by Sony or Samsung. But I don't know if the S-LCD is cheaper than the IPS LCD or not.

IPS is more expensive than traditional LCD's thats why you wont see it in low end phones, besides few exceptions like moto g.

S5 have much better screen than the note3 (brighter, better viewing angles, better antiglare)
hi-tech.imgsmail.ru/hitech_img/source/cf/dc/746f7c86490ffdb8e93c035d5e62.jpg
but not in this case
In Z2 just expanded color range that note3 in movie mode is disabled

Really??

http://abload.de/img/001f2urx.png
http://abload.de/img/002zhuw1.png

The GN3 is further from the camera, hence the angle is more compared to XZ2. Yet the display looks clearly cleaner and much better contrast than XZ2.

Even though the GN3 is at disadvantage due to higher angular view, yet it is better than XZ2. The test itself is flawed as one should test both devices at same viewing angle to judge degradation in nit with angular deviation.

SONY is really stepping up their game. They have designed awesome products recently and really listened to consumers. They really make me wanna switch quick, only if I could.

If it beats amazing amoled displays i will consider buying Z2. Though i bet it wont beat the zero blacks and superior viewing angles(amoled brightness is not affected even at extreme angles).
