Would you prefer an Optimus G over a Galaxy S III, if there was no marketing?

Here's an interesting experiment that we thought of. Imagine that we live in a world where our beloved device manufacturers cannot use that powerful tool called "marketing"...

Obviously one would like the optimus G given its chocolate bar like shape and that does attract everyone's attention ..........but iam sure the touchwiz UI will be anyday better than the Optimus G

S3. Manufakturer trust. (My "see" key is nonresponsive ATM, whish is why there are going to be lots of spelling mistakes)
BTW, there is a SERIOUS differense between "AMOLED" and "HD- Amoled +" Its not just marketing hype, its a major advansement between the 2.
On hardware, the LG beats the SGS3 Amerikan version pretty easily. The krapdragon krait base prosessor sux. However, the differense in software is what gives samsung a major edge over LG.
That said, id rather have a mini "note2 style nexus Same spex at about 4.5 inshes and pure android.

SG3 it's just a better phone. LG phones are alright have some cool features like quick memo which is a screen shot and a note pad. But sammy just kills it plus the G to me looks like a square black box if they tweaked the design not build quality because its great would be higher on the list

This is a very hard disision (for me at least) they both have awesome specs but i would have to go with the s3 because samung is normally very reliable when it comes to having good software meaning little to no lag or bugs. I've also had an lg the original optimus and it laged (not sure if thats a word but anyway) alot and I've also had the epic 1 and that was better so like I said before i would have to stick with samung

My previous phone was LG Optimus 2X. I chose it over S2 due to screen size and build quality. Never LG again, 2X is a laggy POS, and it's still running 2.3.4 when S2 is soon to get Jelly Bean.
I bought S3 after just 7-8 months with 2X, I have the international quad core Exynos version now running Jelly Bean. Could not have been more happy. The rounded shapes of S3 makes the phone feels much smaller both in the hand and in the pocket. Samsung has come a long way when it comes to software, they are now fast with software updates, at least for their flagship models. The additions and tweaks they have done to Android also adds quite a bit to the user experience.
LG builds good HW, but really needs to learn the importance of good software and they probably need to hire more SW engineers.
I don't see commercial TV, I don't read paper newspapers and I use adblockers when surfing so my choice of gadgets probably is minimally influenced by marketing.

If the rumored specs are correct, I'd prefer the LG Optimus G over the LG Nexus. What's Samsung?

Also, why are people talking about software differences? They both run Android. I would root both and run AOKP on both.

I would consider the Optimus G anyway. It looks better, has much better internals and a better camera and I don't depend on OEMs for updates (CM FTW..!). But this time LG has done some neat things to the UI and UX. Some really nice and usable features like the Q Slide and special pinch-to-zoom options.

Okay, I have a S3 (running JB aokp though not TW) but must say I think LG offers much more customization to the standard user, as a sales rep I know that is one of the selling features of the LG lineup. Just a few easy things to note, the toggle bar can be quickly edited, the home screen transitions can be changed (without extra launcher) the home screen reset transition can be edited, none of these require additional launchers, downloads or hacks. Not hard to download these to the S3 but hats off to LG for building it right in, and if I would not have just purchased my S3 two months ago I would be up for buying one! Still looking for an LG nexus though ;)
