This is a neat idea that is online, yet off-cloud. It addresses the legitimate concerns that many have about cloud storage...

I used a similar concept of product called "Pogoplug" before 2-3 years ago "Your own cloud sorage" for you mobile device but because of the "ADSL+" where that upload is very slow it became next to useless. Still got it in my garage as a door stopper.

"With Transporter, you pay one time and can share thousands of files of any size or type with anyone who owns a Transporter. "
So everyone needs a transporter so that I can share files with them? Why not just use a good NAS for example like from Synology?

A Good NAS and proper router setup certainly beat the pants of this idea. Fail..........

Technology has certainly reached a point where people create unnecessary problems for themselves, whatever happened to good ol' USB -- I mean it saves unnecessary data costs, reserves bandwidth for much more important needs, cuts down on overall radiation exposure, reduces the energy needed to power up local and online servers. What single benefit does cloud storage bring to the consumer apart from creating another avenue to waste 'excess' unlimited data? None.

You don't have to carry around a USB all the time. You can also share content with someone on the other side of the planet without physical access to your USB.

True, but that's why we have something called e-mail, unless you want to be able to share everything on your phone with someone on another side of the planet.
