Windows Store passed 40,000 apps today, growth moderating

0. phoneArena posted on 29 Jan 2013, 02:37

Today is the day when the Windows Store hit the 40, 000 apps mark, with 158 apps above that threshold, to be precise, which is a bit short of what Microsoft was expecting, but still an impressive growth nonetheless, compared to all other application stores in the three months after their initial launch.

don't know who you talking about but what I know now is you can't even differentiate between WP and Windows 8/RT

i know that WP RT is specially made for tablets..i know WP mobile store has 125000 apps...But, does it has MC4??? or FIFA 13?? or NFS MW??? and PA doesn't even predict best apps for that platform...WP is nothing against android and ios...

windows store, not windows phone. and it's up to people's choice to choose their own OS, who are you to judge?

I think this is not relateted to Windows Phone but Windows. WP reached 125000 apps a couple months ago...

What's with all the complains on app count? Yes it sucks to have less apps than competitors, but Windows 8 is not even half a year old, what do you expect? Is every new OS doomed to be picked apart for not having a catalogue of 800,000 apps at launch?

18. haseebzahid posted on 29 Jan 2013, 07:22

yes these brain_dead_droids think app add up over night they must have production factory to ad 100k apps in one day

I will go about this completely unbiased. First and foremost I have owned in the past year a iphone 4,4s,5 as well as an sgs3 and an HTC dna and a HTC 8x. Out of all the phones and operating systems on them I can say without hesitation that Windows Mobile is the easiest and most importantly responsive os to date on a mobile device. Now that aside the main issue is the app market here and I will focus on that for the remainder of this message. The app market you have to look at as a result of being a child beginning to learn how to ride a bike. Slow initially but with time and effort will be fully equipped to ride along with the more advanced riders over time. I I have been contacting major developers for some of the more popular apps out there such as instagram, square payment, Pandora, etc. Pandora has already announced that they plan to release a Windows Mobile app and give a year subscription for free exclusively for Windows Mobile Phones. Square is less receptive and has stayed at this time there is no development planned. Instagram has also said that they are working on something. So as you can see its a slow start but you must learn to crawl before you walk. The more Windows Mobile gets out there the more the app development will progress so this is just an example of weak marketing and advertising. Give Windows some time and then see what happens.

FYI it took Apple's equivalent of windows store just over a year to hit 10,000 apps according to isource.com/2012/05/01/mac-app-store-hit-10000-apps-last-week-how-many-have-you-bought-2/
