Windows Phone now accounts for over 10% of European sales, Android still dominant
0. phoneArena 02 Dec 2013, 19:37 posted on
The view at the top of the mobile platform world isn't exactly the most exciting. Android has the lead and doesn't look to be giving up that position in the near future. The far more interesting action is happening on the lower end where Windows Phone is continuing its charge, especially in Europe where Microsoft's platform has taken over 10% of the recent smartphone sales...

Thats some good growth for Windows phone.
They extended the lead over iOS in Italy, equaled in Spain for first time, closing in on France despite the new iPhone releases.
In UK, Germany, Australia, US they are growing well even though the market share is still low.
Also, they are already leading iOS in many other countries like India, Mexico, Poland, etc... as per IDC.
People may argue that it is because of low end phones like 520 and 620, but the good thing is these low end phones can run almost all applications smoothly. So this helps in bringing new apps to the platform.

I like WP8, and unlike Android, it's not full of built-in trojan backdoors and other malware. Nice!
48. PapaSmurf (Posts: 9680; Member since: 14 May 2012)
Lol that made me laugh because that isn't true.
63. UrbanPhantom (Posts: 949; Member since: 30 Oct 2012)
Yup, it is true. Researchers actually discovered some deliberate back doors left in Android which I presume was for the likes of the NSA, or some other 3rd party interested in harvesting personal data...

And how would you know? You seen the source code? Oh wait you can't, damn.
57. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
When your device simply works great you don't think about things like source code, rooting, a configuring.. You skip all of that at just enjoy the experience.
2. Derekjeter (Posts: 536; Member since: 27 Oct 2011)
I want to change over to WP but i hear it doesnt even have the simple apps like Wellsfargo banking. Come on Microsoft this is where you need to surpass everyone else.
3. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
There is Wells Fargo banking.. Don't listen to these haters down here ⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇

Pure ignorance here LOL. I smell troll and fanboy
15. alterecho (Posts: 1094; Member since: 23 Feb 2012)
Lack of apps is one part of the story. Lack of common features in the WP phones and lack of common sense in the WP designers is another.
39. UrbanPhantom (Posts: 949; Member since: 30 Oct 2012)
alterecho, your android is bleeding your personal information out on the net ;o)
60. ihavenoname (Posts: 1576; Member since: 18 Aug 2013)
The Winboys are really getting Microd*cked, they really think that their precious M$ doesn't bleed data.
66. grapeseed87 (Posts: 123; Member since: 13 Mar 2013)
You really need to go back and read some more articles where multiple sources have confirmed that WP has now most important apps that any other platform does, including some exclusives and the app number has already reached critical mass. Lack of Apps is no longer a valid argument simply because its not true.
Also if the design was so bad why are other OS' copying features off of it including the Metro/Modern UI and live tiles, flat design, etc.
67. grapeseed87 (Posts: 123; Member since: 13 Mar 2013)
Majority Apps are up and running, several recent articles will confirm that most important apps on IOS and Android are now available in WP and the app count has reached Critical mass number.
5. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
Here comes all the non WP fans to tell us how much they don't like WP.. Who's first❔Come on, show us how petty you are..
8. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
They'll make negative comments here just because there bored of their own platform.. They're guaranteed to show up because deep down inside they are interested in WP, and what it has to offer.. If not then why would the comment more on WP articles than their own platform❔❔
Wait, listen,, here they come look⬇⬇

And, there's our first true WP fan right here⬆⬆⬆ He couldn't resist.. Congratulations on making my point that much more valid.. What would we do without you..

Ok then, here goes...
NokiaWp has no apps and games, aswell as no feautres....
All over Europe, Asia, America, public are buying Nokia phones as their trash around phone. Nokia is known for selling cheap low budget devices.
Gone are the days for their Nseries, Eseries, 8series sirrocco. Them and that was the original Nokia.
What is this Lamia..... nonsense.... it"s no way near the Nseries
20. PBXtech (Posts: 1007; Member since: 21 Oct 2013)
So you have to like WP, or you're petty? How petty of you forcing an OS on someone.
25. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
Your intelligence level... Who said you have to like WP or you're petty❔.. Who said that❔ What are you talking about for the fifth time today❔ You always have some totally missed point comments on every WP article... And you are number 3❕
you're the third one of the worst of who I was talking about...
Spectrums... You're up.
29. PBXtech (Posts: 1007; Member since: 21 Oct 2013)
Give it up. Don't care about your pointless counting, and I don't care about how with you it's only WP or nothing. It's a free world, if someone has something they want to express about WP, good or bad, it's their choice. Why don't you stop acting petty and let people have their say. If you disagree, act like an adult and be civil about it.
36. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
So you're saying that you haven't had your say about WP❔ Is this the first article you've made negative comments on about WP❔ Will this be the last❔ Have you ever said anything positive about WP❔.. I don't care about what platform you or anybody uses, and you know the last thing I would do is try to force WP in anyone.. I don't care about you that much, so get over yourself.. My point is that the same guys, you include, just keep repeating yourselves on every WP article with your negativity.. Do you think your voice hasn't been heard yet❔ Huh❔.. You've made your point long, long ago.. We know that you don't like WP.. Listen❕ WE KNOW THAT YOU DON'T LIKE WP❗.. Now, if you keep saying it after that fact don't get mad if you're called out as a hater❕
You see my reply to the guy below❔ He said that he wouldn't buy a WP device, but he gave credit where credit is due.. I can respect that.. But, don't mistake me for some punk that's gonna sit here and listen to you ask for my respect when you, and your buddies like yourself, have been disrespectful to so many WP fans on every single WP related article.. Tell me something.. How many post have you made on WP articles today, and how many of them gave credit where credit is due❔ Then tell me how many comments you've made on Android related articles.... Don't give me that crap.. You're not dealing with who you think you are, kid.
44. PBXtech (Posts: 1007; Member since: 21 Oct 2013)
PBXtech, Member since: 21 Oct 2013. Rather recent, not so much long ago as you make out.
You don't know me, and from your comments, you certainly don't know anything about me. But you seem to think you have me completely figured out, which is all completely wrong.
Good luck, enjoy your phone like I enjoy mine, whatever that might be. Don't really care what you use, nor do I feel diminished because I use a different phone OS than what you use. Moving on, nothing left to say to you as long as you're going to falsely stereotype me.
53. nasznjoka (Posts: 372; Member since: 05 Oct 2012)
you are acting like #microsoft tryna force the os that people don't want to them relax brother
58. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
If I am understanding your English correctly then it sounds like you think I'm trying to force WP on somebody... You are number 4, my friend.. Typical.. So sad.
69. ausnote2 (Posts: 84; Member since: 07 Dec 2012)
take a chill pill man. You are actually contradicting yourself and not helping WP at all.
as i mentioned numerous time metro ui is very polarizing you either hate it or love. i am the former and kudos to nokia for bringing the hardware spec up to android level.
9. AfterShock (Posts: 3698; Member since: 02 Nov 2012)
Regardless of the nut jobs posting already.
Good for WP, anything that eats Apple's Pie share, has my vote.
Still wouldn't buy a wp, but if take one over an apple dropping.
10. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
There's nothing wrong with not wanting a WP device. That's why we have options, and thanks god for those options.. But, we have some really childish folks on here who aren't mature enough to respect what others say they like, and get their feelings hurt when someone says something like "Windows Phone is awesome❕"" What's wrong with some of your boys❔
42. Penny (Posts: 1370; Member since: 04 Feb 2011)
Couldn't agree more with your first line. As a WP user, I find myself trying to hide my face when reading that kind of polarizing garbage.
11. AfterShock (Posts: 3698; Member since: 02 Nov 2012)
Well, that guilty shoe fits me at times too, today is one example, I loathe Apple.
I think WP guys get beat up, as MS has made some blundering moves with not only the os itself but has drawn some bad media from stupid antics.
This is leaving out the worst sin, forcing metro, and crippling the OS to power users.
When it can do, what wm could, it'll get me interest, until then, it's far from all that.
17. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
And like I said, that's fine as long as it's a respectful opinion.. I can accept that as long as it's not senseless bashing.. But, you gave credit where credit is due.. But you see how your boy is acting❔ Do you approve of that❔
70. bigstrudel (Posts: 518; Member since: 20 Aug 2012)
If I may ask. Why do you loathe Apple so? Real reasons.
19. snowgator (Posts: 3345; Member since: 19 Jan 2011)
I promised myself... PROMISED... I would stop falling for the "troll bait" of those who just pick fights, but...
WP users still hear "no apps", even as the selstion is over 300,000 and WP had it's best month ever in app development.
WP users still hear "low %.." which was heard when it was below 1%, then grew to 3%... then 5%... and now continues to grow to 10% in some portions of the world and is growing in every single solitary market.
WP users still hear "it is only because of the cheap WP's like the 520 it is growing", despite the fact that lower end devices are the vast, vast, VAST majority of Android devices sold and are why Android has such a huge market share (more power to Google: Android is a butt whupping OS and has earned it's spot atop the sales charts).
WP users still hear "no features", even as three updates that add features came out this calander year, there is a major one in the next 3 - 5 months, and I will put a six-pack of the beverage of your choice that says at least 2 more come out prior to 2015.
On top of which, MS will bring WP 8.1 to every handset in existence, are creating an amazing ecosystem across dozens of other platforms, are a lot more fun at parties and also just had all their top brass make a human chain to get a little girls kitten out of a redwood tree when the firemen were too scared of heights to do it.
What an inspiring brand.....
21. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
WP doesn't have a problem.. There's just something wrong with these guys who keep repeating the same thing negative about WP on every article... Oh wait.. I here another on coming to say something negative about you comment.. There he is⬇⬇... Anyways, these guys were probably picked on as kids, molested by their dads, or born crack babies.. IDK.. But, they're harder to get rid of than cockroaches.. And, just as ugly.. Lol❕
23. PBXtech (Posts: 1007; Member since: 21 Oct 2013)
Guess you're arrows are wrong, nice try though.
28. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
Lol❕ OMG❕... You're crazy❕.. Look at you.. Look at yourself.. Those arrows have been right from the beginning, and those last arrows have never been so right.. LOL.. Its like fill in the blank of the next hatter, and you just wrote your name in the box... You are special.. Oh god.. There's no hope.. Lol❕

"It's never smart arguing with stupid people, all they'll do is drag you down to their level and pummel you with experience." Mark Twain
I just got pummeled. Have a nice day.
38. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
Well see if you're not repeating the same old thing on the next WP related article....
22. PBXtech (Posts: 1007; Member since: 21 Oct 2013)
A lot of those same comments were slammed onto Android back in the day, all things take time. As long as WP continues to get better, good for the WP users. If you like WP, as long as it stays in operation, you'll have phones to purchase. In the end, that's what's really important, not meaningless rankings.
33. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
Once again you're all over a WP article because you love it, and you're insecure about Android.. When I see you on the next WP related article I'm gonna call you out if you say something negative.. You know you'll be there proving me right..
35. snowgator (Posts: 3345; Member since: 19 Jan 2011)
I couldn't agree more, PBXtech. I so understand that WP isn't for everybody. And if I needed to move to Android, I would be okay, simply because of the amazing amount of choices out there.
But so long as WP is being supported and improved, I am happy to stay on it. I am please with everything about it. I find it fun to play with, reorganize my tiles just for something fun to do, love the mobile office suite, and enjoy XBOX Music.
I am trying NOT to be a fan boy, honest....
37. PBXtech (Posts: 1007; Member since: 21 Oct 2013)
That's cool, didn't take you for a fanboy like some on this article. I've often thought about WP and how the Office integration would save me a lot of work, so I keep an open mind about it myself. +1 to you for the honest comments.
41. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)

iPhone : the user wanted an iPhone
WP : the user wanted a WP
Android : the user needed a phone.
"I have a smartphone. Android? What's that?"
54. nasznjoka (Posts: 372; Member since: 05 Oct 2012)
lol which users wanted a WP? they just wanted a trash phone and others just wanted a NOKIA
62. willard12 (Posts: 1072; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
It's pretty sad that 80% of the world "needs" a phone. 40 million "needed" a GS4, 30 million needed a Note, and that's just one OEM. 80% of the world, that's a lot of people who "need" data plans.
46. Penny (Posts: 1370; Member since: 04 Feb 2011)
For what it's worth snow, it's good seeing you post. The thread needed some well-reasoned balance.
I would like to point out that, in my opinion, the amount of trolling against WP is far less nowadays. Not only do I feel that there is more positive sentiment out there for WP now, I also feel that those who are not fans of it are at least more understanding of it. There's far less regurgitation of talking (bashing) points from individuals that have no idea how it really works, and more actual criticism of its remaining deficiencies.
With that said, those who do remain to bait you and bash the WP operating system with indiscriminate remarks are probably going to be the extra dedicated remnants and, in all likelihood, not worth the effort.
55. snowgator (Posts: 3345; Member since: 19 Jan 2011)
Penny, great to see you too!! Notice you have knda slowed down posting as well, these days. Still kinda fun to be a WP right now. As MS keeps trying to get it on the same level as Android and iOS, the new goodies keep coming.
And overall, I agree with you. WP gets a fairly good shake on PA. Even the reviews are showing it some love, and that is a great sign!
27. jroc74 (Posts: 5254; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
Whats more amazing....is iOS losing marketshare almost everywhere except Japan. And WP taking market share iOS.
BB...is just a sad example of what settling, resting does to you. So far MS is recovering from not answering the iPhone fast enough. If I wasnt so heavily invested in the Android eco system....I would have a Lumia by now. Just left Verizon and doing the pre paid thing now.
31. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3570; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
Well be waiting here for you.. No rush.
