i would never get a lumia 610 . Minimum i get is the 710 as it is a lot faster but only cost 200 ringgit more

True 610 makes no sense at all to me. If one were to go low better get Nokia Asha or a Bada device may be..

I don't know how the 610 would perform in real life since it's not out in the market yet but from the video I've seen, it seems like a very capable device. On the other hand, Asha is mostly a feature phone so I don't understand why anybody would recommend THAT over a smartphone like the 610! And Bada is plain ugly!

well what good is a Smart phone with Limitations? its like selling a sports car with 90miles/hr as top speed. Secondly Asha 300 series is as capable as 610, also Nokia has pretty good app store for series 40. I agree Bada is ugly! But none the less gets job done with less money.

610 might have limitations but I doubt if it's limited. Those are two different things. I would bet it would still do better than any of the Asha phones for the simple reason that WP7 with limitations is still a smartphone. As to Series 40 and Bada, both are dead ends. If you don't like WP7, the Android Samsung Galaxy Y is a much more reasonable suggestion because it gets the job done much more than Bada AND is just as cheap!

Ok I think I might have created confusion here wrt Asha, I am talking about Asha 303 and if pitted against 610 I think it'll win no matter 610 is a "SMARTPHONE". Bada dead end sure but s40 noway.

HAHAHAHA! That's s**t air coming through your mouth rather than through you ass! And S40 is a dead end, coming from Nokia itself. After 2 years, no more development for S40. HAHAHAHA! What a jokester you are!
12. B3BLW29 (Posts: 238; Member since: 02 Mar 2012)
Dude ur a Barista!
And were you planning to use a low end phone for more that a year u dumba$$.. If yes then I wasted my time carry on... Also I would like to see where on earth nokia said it would be pulling the plug on S40..
13. Glim12808 (Posts: 394; Member since: 26 Oct 2011)
HAHAHAHA! You're better at name calling than clear-headed thinking! HAHAHA! Dude move on! HAHAHAHA!
14. B3BLW29 (Posts: 238; Member since: 02 Mar 2012)
So HAHAHAHAHAHA! is your answer for proof.
15. Glim12808 (Posts: 394; Member since: 26 Oct 2011)
That's because you havn't given me any reasonable answer than to say "I am talking about Asha 303 and if pitted against 610 I think it'll win no matter 610 is a "SMARTPHONE". That's nonsense! HAHAHAHA!
16. B3BLW29 (Posts: 238; Member since: 02 Mar 2012)
Why would it be nonsense? if you see the specs of both phones 610 aint that great 800MHz that it? At least 1Ghz is repectable. One drawback on Asha 303 end would be its small screen, other than that its a good phone.

Asha is a feature phone while 610 is a smartphone so there's no comparison. Specs does not matter here. There is no comparison between the S40 and S60 which are based on an old OS like Symbian to a modern OS like the WP7 and WP8. I give you the S40 performs better than S60 but they're still both dead ends. The era of feature/dumb phones is coming to an end. All inexpensive phones in the future will all be smartphones. Nokia knows this that's why they are adopting a different OS than their in-house Symbian. They could also have adopted Android and the story would still be the same - that would mean moving forward rather than stay stranded in the past with Symbian and all it's iteration.

dudeeee even a 5 year old knows the diff between a feature phone n a smart phone. So thanks but no thanks for educating me on this concept.. Also my 1st post was about how anyone who would purchase nokia 610 wont be able to fully enjoy the experience of WP7, which some how didn't register for you. Anyways I think I've had enough of S40 n Nokia 610..
19. B3BLW29 (Posts: 238; Member since: 02 Mar 2012)
And I dont think Nokia will kill S40 without having an alternative, coz if WP proves to be a failure in long run, Nokia will be in soup. Also Nokia is leading other ODMs in Low n Medium range phones world wide, so it would tread very very carefully in this space.

If WP does not succeed (which I don't agree it won't, especially when WP8 comes around) Nokia will move to Android. It will NOT go back to Symbian!
23. B3BLW29 (Posts: 238; Member since: 02 Mar 2012)
Dude the whole world know it wont move back to Symbian(anyways Symbian will be all dead by 2014 #Sad), but Android seems a distant possibility. Although even I dont think WP is going down.

I'm trying to understand why all the post are bashing and against this phone. Is anyone telling you to buy it? Last I checked this was for emerging markets and to fill in the void of a low end windows phone soooooo what are we getting upset for?
8. Glim12808 (Posts: 394; Member since: 26 Oct 2011)
Actually I'm not bashing the 610. In fact, if I hadn't already bought my first WP7 device last December 2011, I would probably have gotten this phone. But couldn't wait for the availability of the Nokia Lumias anymore so got the HTC Radar instead.
22. tigermcm (Posts: 832; Member since: 02 Sep 2009)
it just isnt making sense to me that almost every article about the 610s limitations has such negative feedback when the whole point of it is, is to be a low end phone
6. mercorp (Posts: 995; Member since: 28 Jan 2012)
what if we could unlock the restrictions on a lumia 610 and get live tiles, multitasking, etc?
20. tigermcm (Posts: 832; Member since: 02 Sep 2009)
what if you buy a 710 instead? again im lost why we are bashing this phone and now trying to figure out how to enhance it sheesh not every phone made needs to have top specs and be able to do everything thats why there are top middle and low end smartphones

Does anyone know where it's posted exactly what specs Microsoft is using to get labeled lower end?? I'm a bit concerned that my mid range will lost some features.....
25. kshell1 (Posts: 1143; Member since: 05 Oct 2011)
anything with less than 1ghz and 528mb of ram
27. MoonlitTear (Posts: 38; Member since: 09 Jun 2008)
Cool. Thanks Kshell for replying. I was getting concerned this became a "name all the ways the 610 sucks" thread. :)
