Windows Phone Store OTA download limit may be increasing to 100MB

If you're downloading larger apps or games, you're more than likely going to do it while you're on Wi-Fi; but, with the expansion of LTE, that has been changing a bit. Faster cellular connections make it easier to download larger files, but most platforms have a size limit for over-the-air (OTA) downloads. It looks like Windows Phone may be increasing its limit though...

It doesn't matter. After the OS eats up half of the memory under 'other storage', for no apparent reason, you can't install anything else in 8gb devices.

That's true, fortunately most windows devices nowdays have 16/32 gb of native storage, and it still runs faster than lagdroid

My old note 2 begs to differ, and even then I decided to give the s4 a shot and nope still laggy, shame that my dad's older lumia 710 was faster and more responsibility than sammys toy, and that's besides durability

My Note 2 begs to differ with you. I have NO lag. My Note 2 is the most stable and reliable device I have owned. Nokia may have nice hardware but its runs on WP. When WP can allow me to insert a document or file of any kind into an email that it can be compared to Android. Lumia is nice hardware and cameras but WP is a limitation.

You actually can dude, it's very easy you just press share in the options of whatever file and you can even blue tooth it and nfc works on pictures not sure about word documents, but on that you'd have to use the native app, not the Gmail app, yes i agree on that, the Gmail app on windows phone sucks, and the drop that spilled the glass was that my note 2 fell from my hip to the ground with a case and my screen still cracked and bottom part of the glass chipped, and it made me so upset that my baby sister would purposely throw my mother's lumia 810 to the ground and you could see the phone literally bounce and not a single scratch after that. However my switch wasn't right off the bat to a lumia, I had become a picture freak so the 808 PureView was my first, then I recently upgraded to the lumia 1020 and man I get the best of everything, major apps, Pandora radio with no adds, LTE and still get the 41 Mega Pixel camera I came to love so much.

Both wp8 and android are very smooth. It is OEMS like Samsung who inject unoptimized bloat in that kills it. Go use a nexus 4 or a nexus 5 or a motorala x. It is extremely smooth no lag at all. Main wp I used was a lumia 920 and it lagged. But I have heard its fixed on the newer ones.

920 lag❔.. The 920 I'm using right now has never lagged.. I don't understand what you're talking about❔... But, I've never used a Android phone that didn't lag, then again I should probably check out a Nexus device..

The animations when I opened apps lagged. My nexus 4 is flawless in terms of lag, going to go upgrade to a nexus 5 soon.

Do you even know what the 'other' storage is? I have seen you cry about this more than once, But i dont think you really do.

I'm on Amber, but my storage info reads:
other - 2.40 gb (sometimes goes upto 3.49 gb)
system - 1.93 gb.

The limit should be removed entirely. Other storage can be cleared using Storage Check.

Great, exactly what I was hoping for. Happy that MS devs are listening to customers, though system wide file manager would be higher on my list (they say this is coming soon).

It's very uncommon to see a foreign write Brasil with "S"... :)

Are you all idiots?? This article is referring to the size of file you can download over the air on a Windows phone, not the size of the apps you can have on your phone. Jeez, I had to register just to berate you.
14. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3561; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
Well, most of us know that.. At least us WP Users do.. The problem is that these Android user who don't even like WP always have to be on every WP article talking about stuff they don't know..

Know what android doesn't have that WP8 does? A download limit over mobile data (Yes it warns you if you try it but it takes a couple taps to disable it). Thats one thing you guys can keep.

I could care less.. With a limited data plan I always download big games and apps over WiFi anyways.. Once again, who cares❔ And, once again, I could never care what Android can do...
99% of smartphone users don't even run into a situation where they would even think about something as petty as this.. The way I see it the cap just saves people from using up all there data allowance.. They could lower the cap for all I care.. Besides, with the exception of some good games what apps are over 100mb❔...
