Windows Phone 8 critical errors look just like the ones on a desktop PC

0. phoneArena 15 Jan 2013, 04:19 posted on

Believe it or not, the images you are about to see haven't been Photoshopped. These are real error messages displayed on Windows Phone 8 devices – an HTC Windows Phone 8X and a Nokia Lumia 920, in this case. Interestingly, they are identical to the error screens that pop-up in desktop versions of the Windows operating system whenever something goes seriously wrong...

Might be half right. I'm assuming Android was coded to just reboot the phone....and not show an error message.

Fanboyism is a disease.....

Fake! Look the capacitive buttons on the Lumia 920 they are not even light up. And the user tried to jailbreak the phone or something, and if it is true, only proofs that the phone has the same core of the desktop version

the black screen ones are right, however I believe that they don't show the blue screen error that the writer has put in the article thumbnail.

Wow some people here don't get it. Just like majority of Android users don't know what Open and rooting mean, majority of Windows users will never see these screens. It built on the NT kernal. Why would this surprise anyone that the error messages are the same or similar? I'm sure if Androids base code started on a computer with a cd rom we'd see something similar. Remember the early versions of Android had stolen code in it that didn't get removed. Stop jumping to conclusions.

Youre saying to stop jumping to conclusions yet.

If you think I'm jumping to conclusions you clearly don't understande my comment. I'm assuming you are thinking that I mean the average user will see Android base code. They wont and I thought I made that perfectly clear in my comment.

1. The majority of Windows users on desktops might see that screen ....driver and hardware issues can cause that message.

2. You were doing fine until you got to Android and stolen code. Whatever code you were refering to would have never been seen by a regular user, even most root and ROM users would never have seen it. I think only actual coders woulda seen it.

And was it actually established that it was stolen? I cant remember...if thats the case...how in the world did they win the Oracle case?

That still doesnt excuse a desktop error message showing up on a mobile phone. The general public might go to their phone carrier asking for the WP install disc for their phone....

1. Desktop? I thought we were talking about phones.

2. I wasn't using the stolen code example as an example of what normal users would see. I was using more of an example of things that exist in the OS that would never be seen by Joe the Plumber.

You said Windows users....not desktop or mobile. You didnt even say Windows Phone...

Are you saying a kernel panic can only happen on WP or any mobile phone by tinkering with the OS? I dont really know....I know on desktops it can happen due to hardware or driver issues. Could an sd card error cause this? What about a charging cord issue?

You android/apple clowns can spread all the fud in the world, it still won't stop the wave of ordinary phone users that are about to dump android/IOS in favour of Windows Phone and Blackberry 10.

Jelous much? Its weird how youre "predicting" the future. Android and Windows are too different. Many people wont switch because Android is open. There are many people that like Android and it runs good.

The problems people have had is on the phones themselves, like the Droid Bionic for example. My Razr was stable as hell. My friends Bionic always had issues.

You mean like how the orig iPhone was a joke...that nobody would switch to that from the old Win Mo, Palm and BB? You mean like how Android was garbage...and nobody would switch to that from the old Win Mo, Palm and BB?

If ppl were gonna dump Android or the iPhone in droves...it woulda already happened by now. WP has been out since what 2010? Its 2013...The only way for ppl to dump the iPhone and Android in droves is if they both started sucking royally....and that doesnt look like its gonna happen anytine soon.

Why do some ppl feel one product must fail for another so succeed? Do you think Android or iOS is failing? They are both succeeding. Good luck to WP and BB tho..

this is what you get when you mess with the hardware or firmware of your windows phone device AKA hacking. the normal user will not see this. therefore nothing to see here in this article. move along.

I'm not surprised. It's Windows 8 lite.
