Windows Phone 7.7 might come to current WP handsets instead of Apollo

Right when the scales started tipping in favor of current Windows Phone devices potentially getting an update to WP8, we have the German subsidiary of Business Week suggesting that Microsoft's plans are a bit different. According to the media's source, an update is indeed coming to these smartphones, but Windows Phone 8 is not it. Instead, current WP handsets will supposedly get Windows Phone version 7.7 or 7.6, which is going to be more of a "feature update" that will only introduce certain WP8 features...

how is this different than any other platform. did the sensation get all the goodies of ics no did the Iphone 4 get all the goodies no so I don't see how this is any different

if this is true it is not really good in my opinion. Nokia Lumia 900 just started selling in Greece and someone that will spend 600 euros for a phone that will not get the latest update is as good as an idiot.
i guess that this is also the reason that WP7 is not selling at all here.

Amazon Germany sells it for 505 euro's :) a lot cheaper, at the stores in Belgium its also priced at 600 euro :)
