Not allowing an alternative UI would make a more consistent experience to the End User. This would finally give the OEM's a break in innovating the UI and cease spending of millions in R&D for the experience. But on the same time, wouldn't that piss them off because they have spent so much to keep WinMo afloat? granted I have TouchFLO on my phone, but I prefer to use the Windows Default/Zune-like home screen. If MS allows OEMs and app developers to add the the plug-ins to the UI taht would be cool, rather than just disallowing everything. We will see if any of this holds water though, as MS keeps pushing 7 back. As long as the product is stellar, innovative, and revolutionary, I will wait as long as it takes to be released.

Great...instead of going forward they are going backward(sigh!).

the touchFLO 2D, then 3D, then SENSE UI ( all overlays from htc) are the only reason that i used windows in the first place. they really arent that far from pissing every body and their mother off. i mean so far they havent paid their developers, havent turned around peoples view point on their mobile division AND currently trying to piss off manufacturers. the only nail not in the casket is to tell the cell providers to shove it.

This is all a rumar still, I will wait and see what they say at MWC. This could be an apple leak to try and spread lies and hate lol.

If they make an awesome interface why would you want another on top to slow down operation and use up memory? I like the idea a whole lot

Wow, that's awesome Microsoft, no Multi-tasking or flash, wait is this a Winmo phone we're talking about or and iPad!

wow... thanks alot MS for your NEW mobile OS without 3rd party UI... and thank you for not having multitasking... i'm leaving off to android soon...

LOL! Sounds a lot like Apple. But we see how obsessed their people are with loving that oppression. So maybe it'll work out in Microsofts favor. "NO FLASH FOR YOU!" iNazi

I really dont understand why people are more negative than positive. Is everybody just focussing on the dark side? .. Are You HTC that is making and investing millions in Sense or TouchFLO? If WM7 delivers a solid experience why would you need any other interface? WM7s Psuh will be different from iPhoneOS. But anyway, why would the minimum requirements for RAM would be so high if there is no multitasking? Really I would almost think you are all invlolved in the HTC team... lol. Like a very intresting person said: WM6 - 6.5 = Xbox WM7 = Xbox 360. A.K.A. AWESOME and winner of the console war. I have fullconfidence in MS. Just deliver an awesome WM7, and I dont even need to customize the OS. We like to have that freedom in 6.5 because we NEED to tweak the OS, because it fails in some points. Perfect OS means no more need for freedom to customize. Also flash in the browser wil come.

Because these are all steps backward. The only way WinMo was ever better than the iPhone OS is what they're removing (if this is all true). Multitasking, ability to use whatever UI I want, ability to install whatever app I want (not just those MS approves). And, I have no confidence in Microsoft whatsoever to develop a good UI. Look at WM5-6. And, I really dislike Titanium. I use SPB MobileShell 3.5, and it's 1000x better than any MS UI. If I believed someone named Steve could better decide what was best for me than I can, I'd have gotten an iPhone. I sure hope Slingbox for Android comes out soon, because if all this comes true, my current Omnia will be my last WM phone.

tedkord, u are wrong... SPB mobile shell 3.5 is not 1000x better... it's more like a million times better...lol

Wow! Perfect OS? You're not talking about WinMo, are you?

I can't be expected to believe what appears to be a garbage barge-load of information like this aside from the zune-like interface possibility. All of the features that they mention winmo 7 will supposedly lack are some of the main reasons there are still winmo fans at all. Unless MS has been listening from a silent room they should be well aware that all they need to do is make a mobile os with all of the current capabilities intact, make it run faster/smoother and give it an option for a more intuitive user interface out of the box. Any features they can add above and beyond is just more icing on the best cake. MS has more than enough money to throw at whatever project they want and the fact that they don't lack funds is a big reason they have taken so long to seriously revisit the windows mobile platform. I find it hard to believe that if they are going to take a serious stab at reinventing windows mobile, they are going to make dramatic changes that will alienate their current clientele right from the start. Since my brain is fully developed and intact I certainly don't want anything remotely similar to what that cro-magnon steve jobs has been peddling from his gypsy train. If MS does flush winmo down the toilet than I guess I will have to switch to the android os.
