There is a Wi-Fi only plan for $5 a month. For $10 a month, you can get unlimited talk and text via Wi-Fi and cellular, with unlimited data on Wi-Fi only. For $25 a month you will be able to have unlimited talk and text using Wi-Fi and cellular along with unlimited Wi-Fi and 3G data. And lastly, $40 a month buys you unlimited talk and text over Wi-Fi and cellular with unlimited 4G data over Wi-Fi and Sprint. MMS is not yet available directly over the carrier's network although you can use a third party app to send out pictures and videos.

Anyway... "Republic Wireless is offering the Motorola Moto X for an unsubsidized price of $299." is a really good deal on a really great smartphone, just not sure about the reliability of their service,

Well, while a good deal from a cost standpoint, I agree the biggest concern would be availability and reliability of service. Sprints network is still AWEFUL! 4G is extremely limited to a very few places, and WiFi is not publicly available everywhere. On top of those valid points, 3G is yesteryears tech. I guess it may serve a purpose to a few, but most definitely not the majority.

Free wifi is in more places than you think. Every Mickey D's in my neighborhood is packed from 8 pm until closing. Why? Free wifi. I never saw so many online gamers camped out in one place. After the store closes, you see a few going to their cars to continue to use the free wifi.
Burger King has free wifi. StarBucks and most coffee places offer free wifi. Even Malls have free wifi. They have free wifi on Greyhound buses. Even Targets has free wifi.
