Will.i.am debuts iPhone camera attachment with 14MP sensor and interchangeable lenses

Since taking photos is what people do most with their smartphones, it comes as no surprise that accessory makers come up with all sorts of products meant to take the experience to the next level. Few, however, have dared to go as far as will.i.am did by launching his i.am+ series of iPhone peripherals. At an official event in London, the popular musician and entrepreneur presented the i.am+ foto.sosho (yes, that's really what it's called), which is supposed to "turbo charge" your iPhone's camera...

Ahahahahaahaha wow this thing looks like some sort of attempt to combine Victorian-era design cobbled with current parts (almost like steampunk without the steam) without any sense of taste or style. They want waaaay too much for this junk. Better to buy a standalone P&S camera and save the money, better photos anyway.
thie william person's taste and sensibilities are oddball, to say the least. I appreciate that he started some neat programs for youth in his home area, but this and the DeLorean with the body kit that he's trying to call his own design are just silly.

More than $300 for the cheapest one. Very smart considering the consumer base it's aimed at - if you know what I mean.

why don't android phones get extensions as well? Android DOES have a larger market after all.

I know there's a high probability of me causing a s**tstorm by saying this but...companies/sellers know they'll make more money off of making accessories and such for idevices because not only are they fragile to begin with, they know the drive of idevice users is consumerism and so they're far more prone to buying unnecessary and overpriced additions for their devices.
Aside from that, I don't think any company/seller wants to waste a bunch of money having say 10,000 cases for a phone made at $50 a piece to sell for around $100 just to have a newer version of the phone release and most of their inventory and marketing go to waste. Android's rapid evolution is its own downfall in this case, no pun intended.

The most useful extension for android is a battery pack. Iphones gets mostly useless or retarded extensions like retro phone receivers.

yah i have to agree with that maybe because iOs is a unified os so few tweeks and apps viola! you already made it available to all the users how i hope google will support some accessories that will be suitable to all android

That's because android users will spend that money on a real camera instead of spending on brand recognition

I'd still like dslr quality sensors on an Android phone. best of both worlds.

That's because android does not need this kind of over priced shadey gadgets. And android already have this stuff built in inside the hardware.. Example : Sony Xperia S 13MP camera.
And android users are not dumb to spend more money on their gadgets then their own phone...
Which simply means iPhone's r built incomplete, u have to but these gadgets to make it compete...
Makes to laugh and feel pity for them...

Now this is hella ridiculous. I mean, can't even be considered a good idea. If anything, it'll sell a few units based on exclusivity for the isheep who would want this crap just to have it. No one even knows if the quality of the lens or the camera itself is any good, so... the price can't really be justified much, now can it?

And this make the iPhone much more bulk-ier than 808 right?? With just 14 megapixels of add-on?
Now you can stop complaining about the size of 808! Imagine how big iPhone would look if you had to put a 41 megapixels sensor to it.

I love the idea, but hate how the iphone gets so much different types of accessories as if there wasnt any other smartphone out there.. there are so much MORE cases/support for the iphone compared to other phones its sad...
Well, I guess it makes sense since the iPhone does so little out-of-the-box that it needs attachments to make it half as featured packed as an android...

18. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
hahaha ohh your an idiot, so im an apple fanboy now on what basis ?
ohh becuase i called you on your dumb ass comment that because theres a accessory to make something better it suddenly means the original was s**t
then you have android users saying the same thing and then saying they wish android phones got stuff like this
and to finnish idiot your the one starting your crap on the iphone so your the fanboy here, and this proves nothing

case in point.
this "thank you, exactly what i mean, anything for the iphone and its time to slate it...for android its amazing......getting old fast
and sadly there arent many fans of tech on here as you can see...just fanboys of android" in reply to this "i saw no mention in his comment comparing it to android. so you decide to bring up purple pictures on the nexus 4..... i've seen only one for the nexus 4 that was very poor quality taken in a tight space with alot of unnecessary lighting. as opposed to the many i've seen from the iPhone with all sorts of ppl being able to recreate them.
as for the article it's sad to have to attach a separate camera to your phone just to get it to work the way you want. and if that wasn't bad enough you have to buy it from a douchebag like will.i.am! accessories are cases, batteries, screen protectors, stylus, chargers or things like that. this shouldn't be considered an accessory since it tries to modifies the actual hardware. proving that some ppl buy this phone only for the status symbol it is but can't live with what they pay for. why not just buy a phone that does what you want in the first place?"
these are pulled from comments at that link.

What is it with rappers/hip hop/soul performers selling electronics lately??? That is like Mr. Food selling autographed basketballs.
21. Nathan_ingx (Posts: 3135; Member since: 07 Mar 2012)
Obviously, his rapping didn't work out through the lens.
23. -box- (Posts: 3968; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
They fall out of popularity quickly and they try to keep the money coming in to support their unsustainable lifestyles. There's been numerous reports of similar performers buying expensive stuff but not in full upfront (when they can afford to) and then having it repossessed when they don't keep up the payments because they spent their money

What about the iPhone 5? A bit dated already isn't it.
