Will we see 3GB of RAM on Samsung's 2013 high-end smartphones?

0. phoneArena 06 Oct 2012, 10:52 posted on

Speculation about what we can expect from Samsung next year starts with talk that the Samsung Galaxy S IV will stuff 3GB of RAM into the device and a leaked picture shows what appears to be a phone with no hint of a button...

Funny how people get offended by more powerful phones. I applaud your foresight.

actually, we don't need that much of ram.......technically, 1gb ram is more than enough for all the apps and games in the play store, so 2gb is more than enough.......
google optimizes the nexus devices to work good with the os and the nexus devices will have a much better support than the galaxy s series smartphones so the amount of ram on the nexus devices this year will give us an idea of how much ram is required for the next few years
apple ipod touches/iphones/ipads run excellently, flawlessly without huge specs....so the only thing we need from the s4 is a better gpu and a quad core processor with a power saving core because android and the amoled screens drain more battery
the quad core international version of the galaxy s3 doesn't have 2gb ram so a 2gb ram is gonna be a good upgrade

You can't compare how the ipod runs to android. Android has way more capabilities and so, needs more ram. Can you multitask with an ipod? Nope. 512mb is fine the ipod. On Android, with heavier programs and more running at the same time, you'll need more ram. Maybe not now, but sooner rather than later.

you can multitask on the ipod touch, with the jailbreak tweaks......infact, the jailbroken idevices can do multitasking in many ways, meego has the best multitasking in the world and you can get such multitasking on any jailbroken idevice.......the ipod touch runs excellently even after adding multitasking capabilities to it via cydia tweaks but it still doesn't need any ram.....its also very power saving and doesn't require bigger battery for many hours of web browsing and gaming...........
multitasking doesn't need much ram....2gb is more than enough, the samsung galaxy s4 won't be supported for more than a year or two while the iphone is supported atleast for 4 years
so, 2gb ram is gonna be enough......you don't need more than 1gb ram on android JB even the other 1gb ram will be for the future......so 2gb is more than enough......ask for better GPU and bigger battery

I won't say it has 3GB of ram. That looks more like a prototype of a weaker phone, because the screen is small and the overall phone is too thick. I would say it a new phone.

Can I try a phone with 2GB first please....lol.

And I agree 3GB might be in the overkill area. Even with something like Webtop or Citrix.....2GB should be enough.

3GB is gr8
They should instead use a 2GB RAM with higher memory bandwidth.
And a quad core cortex a-15 is a must.

even true i dont see a point of so much ram none of the apps on moblie ever used that much ram it is totall wastage even on PC only high end games take ram over 1GB, dont see any thing on moblie though even the most heavy app wont need it combined in multitasking

Guys... the SGS3 has 1GB of Ram in most of the world.

I don't think Samsung will be making such a huge jump from 1GB to 3 GB..

Why don't they just develop DDR3 mobile RAM instead of upping the memory?
It's more useful, that extra 1GB won't be used 90% of the time.

Great, hope it comes into fruition first before that 3GB of RAM.

Why would the next Samsung flagships have dual-core processors when the current ones have quad (yes, I realize the S3 in America is dual, but we all know why that is)? Also, if Samsung puts a 5.7" display in the next Note, there's probably a pretty good chance it will be full HD.

Because it's the A15 Exynos, that slaps the current quad Exynos around despite being dual core.

Yeah, I know, but FHD on a screen under 8 inches is overkill, that's why I said HD+, just to keep it over the 300 ppi mark. These are just my expectations.

I want to see more battery efficient technology instead of 3GB RAM stuff. Right now what we need is a breakthrough in battery technology.

many other there mixed with little plastic but not 100% plastic like all samsung phones they all look really cheap. the build quality its so cheap

I think that "cheapness" problem is not because of the plastic. For example Nokia Lumia 900 has monolithic Polycarbonate body but it doesn't feel cheap or for example HTC One X also use the same plastic but it also doesnt feel cheap.
