Will the Oppo Find 5 hit your country in Q1? 32GB model of the phone is on the way
0. phoneArena 25 Dec 2012, 14:24 posted on
The Oppo Find 5 is quite a beast of a phone with a 5 inch 1080p screen that puts in among those other models like the HTC DROID DNA that are, or will soon be sporting a pixel density of 441ppi; Oppo now has a list of countries where you can expect to find the phone for sale next quarter and in addition, a 32GB model is coming down the road...

I just can't help myself... I want this beast. Or, at least to give it a test drive. I see stories about it posted here, but I'm not sure I've seen an actual review. The specs are nice, but does anyone know how it performs real-world?
I wish the marketing guys at Oppo were a little better. Naming schemes could use a little work. It reminds me of an old Saturday Night Live sketch poking fun at the Smucker's jelly tagline, "Mangled Baby Ducks. With a name like Mangled Baby Ducks, it HAS to be good."
"Oppo Find 5. With a name like Oppo Find 5, it HAS to be good."

The problem is, when this absolute piece of art hits the shelves, the 4-core A15 beast that is the Galaxy SIV will be already announced with SW goodies rivals can't quite match. But looking at the full size HDR shots I'll share in a moment, plus design, built quality and future-proof specs, I might as well get the O5 as soon as price tag drops into the $400s.
Now the photos! Notice a dynamic range, results are spectacular. Some noise as expected due to HDR, but sharpness and color reproduction is top notch.

DROID DNA already has what phones like this will offer after 3 months and I own DNA from over a months now.
So basically DNA is best smart phone right now and will remain competitive even after 3 months... or till GS 4 comes out..
Camera: Dynamic range is fine.. but sorry too much noise, My DNA takes super shots with wide angle and Crystsal. Clear.
So why does any one need to wait this Phone or any other get the DNA, which will remain best for next 3 months.. DNA owns all Lumia i[phone 5, gs3 nexus 4... GET THE DNA

The DNA is certainly an attractive phone, but I like the 32GB option, the nex-gen camera and the bigger battery of the OF5, not the mention the superb design (not that the Droid doesn't look awesome). There's no HDR shot without color noise, but the much better dynamic range is worth that small sacrifice, you can't possibly do a shot with your HTC where both the sky and a darker part are properly lit.

Every couple of months something new will come out. The Nexus 4 is already beat in some peoples eyes. I have the Galaxy Nexus from last year and I am still very happy with it. Buy phone's you want know and not what will be coming out in the following months.

Very wise words that I believe we all should take in. It is true that you cannot just buy something based upon the future devices that have yet to be announced. Unless you are buying a phone and know another phone will come out you will want in the next month, you will get caught up in the endless loop of waiting for the "Next Big Thing". I did the same exact thing two years ago where I was about to get a smartphone and then thought I should wait for the next new device to come out, but even when that happened I waited yet again for the next new device after that. I finally had to stop or else I wouldn't have gotten a device and would be stuck in that loop.

I bought the note 2 because of what it can do and what it can do for me not just now but 3 years from now. That is why i choose it. I wish other buyers thought the same way and help break this crazy upgrade cycle.

The Oppo find 5 looks to be a pretty good contender, not sure how well their OS is as well as how well it's integrated with Android Jelly Bean. But I'm sure this one will stand out over say the ZTE flagship that is coming out at CES which will be boasting pretty similar internal specs. I think the LG Optimus G makes a perfect example of that. It has great specs does well in the benchmarks etc, but when it comes down to every day use it doesn't contend with the other flagship devices of today. The Droid DNA is a mother great example it is a phone that coupled with a GOOD OS it over tales those that sport the same specs. The DNA beats out the Optimus G all day in productivity, benchmarks, multi tasking and much more.
This is another reason Samsung is Head and shoulders above the competition they have THE WHOLE PACKAGE. But regardless i will still be stopping in which ever carrier here in the States picks it up to take a look.

Agreed and that is why companies like ZTE will find it difficult if they cannot provide the whole package. its not just about the specs anyone can create a high spec device. Its the whole package.
