HTC better put the highest of high-end specs on this phone and really pour their hearts and souls into it to avoid tarnishing the EVO brand.

uhh what brand... it was just a phone... and really, it wasnt that great, but compared to all of the other phones sprint users had used, it seemed amazing...

more than a single phone, the EVO was huge for HTC, and is still considered by many to be the best Android phone on the market (this is from legitimate tech blogs, not just lil' ol' me).
It was, at the time, seen as the best Android had to offer up against the iPhone.

I understand it was well adopted, obviously it sold well i did not argue that... all I am saying is they could have done a little more. All i am talking about really is the screen and the processor. The evo is kinda slow... the processor was at the end of its time. ALso the screen was not very good, I would say they still are not good also becuase other companies debuted much nicer screens such as the qhd retina clear black and samoled... htc still hasnt even made a better screen...

Agreed on some points, but this is a classic example (on the scale of the Nexus S and iPhone, almost) of how software, UI, quality and user experience can make all the difference even when the hardware is decidedly lacking.
And don't forget, at one time, the Motorola (well Verizon, but w/e) Droid, Samsung Galaxy S and even the Apple iPhone were brands limited to a single device.

It may be just a phone to you probably because you keep your phone stock. It's second to none in the development when it comes to phones.

The iPhone had certain parts of it that that other phone surpassed. People didnt like the screen or the screen size. The camera wasnt good enough. The total package thought is still a measuring stick by which others are judge and it is ONE phone that still sell and in some area out sells complete lines of phones. I am by no means an iPhone lover or user. I am an Android convert from Blackberry. The Evo is the yardstick. It blew the G1 out of the water and it still holds its own. How many Android phones have came and went? It had some short comings in certain parts on the hardware but over all it was an unbeatable package when it dropped and still is viable right now. As far as the hardware goes the HD2 (tmo's windows version which came first) is still sold in most stores.

I really hope that Sprint gets the EVO 3D (or whatever they want to call it). They have been coming up a bit short with their announcements of late. This could give them a boost for just like the original EVO did.

I agree entirely, and to help the EVO 3D atone for the lack of major announcements from Sprint of late, hopefully we hear about this rumored Nexus S 4G at CTIA.

Are they going to call every HTC Android an EVO now? Lame. You guys can get a little more creative then that.

3D??? is it the same kind of 3D technology the Lg Optimus 3D and Nintendo 3Ds uses? If so, you're not going to be happy with battery life...and it also uses the famous HTC battery which means Less battery life goodie!!! Hopefully it doesn't come with a +4" TFT/LCD screen, thee Battery hog screen on phones. :D but at least Sprint is getting something nice unlike the Echo...echo echo lol.

It would be great to see a Super AMOLED (maybe even +?) on the next incarnation of the EVO, but I'm not sure if any 3D devices have used anything but TFT at this point (I know the LG Optimus 3D is TFT, and I don't know what the Nintendo 3DS uses).
Does anyone know if any phones have 3D on an OLED screen yet? Does anyone even know how to do 3D with OLED yet?

I really like my original EVO eventhough I'm about to have it repaired or replaced due to a problem that started a couple weeks ago with extremely slow 3g data speeds(radio must have went bad). If the specs for this EVO are true, I will definitely cash in on my 1 year upgrade eligibility though. However, I really could care less about 3D. Is there a possibility that 3D can be toggled?

Im placing all my money on this phone being the next Evo. When it comes out and after I buy it I will gladly with all my heart and soul and might SMASH my worthless Hero on the ground

What they are doing is puitting the EVO tag on the Sprint HTC's. Not all of them. I personally love my EVO so I will be buying the next one if it as good. The technology was groundbreaking when it came out. 1ghz processor and 4.3inch screen. That started it all for all the other big phone. I am patiently waiting for the 22nd and excited to see what Sprint it coming out with. Go HTC!
