I'm really sick and tired of all the freaking rumors too. But I don't blame that on Apple. But for some reason I'm still pissed at them.

oh snap!! it wouldnt surprise me that inadvertedly apple will allow it to make calls. i.e. skype app is available on iphone and all apps are transferrable. add a bluetooth headset and a wifi connection and i potentially see phone calls being made

The Ipad shouldn't need to make calls although it should be able to in the future w/ new apps. I think it should be looked at more like a Kindle that can do very nice web browsing, apps and more. On a side note, what is with the very thick black edges?

Forget the future, apple just approved VOIP over 3g and approved an app called icallto do it. So if the iPhone has a voip over 3g app, and the ipad can use every iPhone app fully then voip is just a matter of having headphones with a mic, or whether or not the ipad has Bluetooth. Considering the iPod touch does I don't see why not. One thing I do wonder about, of apple says it can use every iPhone app In the app store. That means it has a GPS and a magnometer(digicompass) but those weren't in the specs. And yeah the extra thick black bezel is just wasted screen space IMO. How are u gonna get your thumb around it to play games?

Making calls from the iPad is now very easy thanks to Freephoo, an amazing voip app. This app can be downloaded fromhttp://itunes.apple.com/se/app
/freephoo/id411865638?mt=8&ls= 1.
it works on both 3G and WiFi connections. The app gets installed for free and calls between freephoo users are free as well.
