Will Apple lose the smartphone war without Steve Jobs?
0. phoneArena posted on 26 Nov 2012, 05:50
It seems some entrepreneurs and analysts believe that without Steve Jobs guiding the company, Apple will slowly lose the smartphone war to Google. Most of you probably know that Google's Android already commands a much larger share of the market, and has been doing so for quite a while, but the reality is that Apple's still raking in much bigger profits, thanks to its extraordinary profit margins...

Apple would lose the mobile war and with Jobs.

Actually Apple has lost the war already!
Didnt anyone catch the article on PA ranking smartphone manufacturers by sales figures.
Numero Uno was Sammy with around 59 million units sold and Apple was second with only 26 million units....so i guess this poll is irrelevant!

I am sorry hater
But you can't judge
This year was a rough year do to supplier issues and (alot) of lawsiuts
It is too early to tell

'do to supplier issues'? Well, you're dead wrong, literally and grammatically, it was a 'rough year due to' that iHideous Purple rAin camera; 'due to' that revolutionary new headphone jack; 'due to' all past accessories being iObsolete 'due to' a brand new (and must-have) connector; 'due to' that stuck in 2009 small @ss screen. Yes, Apple will fail!! Not because their mAster is iDead but, because Apple is so damn rigidly controlling.
Personally, I am making my full retail contribution to Samsung and Android on Thursday morning, November 29th, when I walk into my local NYC Verizon store and walk out with my Galaxy Note II; three times the size of your MiCro-iPhone.

PAPINYC i fully support you in what you said! I regret getting my GS3 because i want that Note 2 for verizon but either way apple is doomed to fail. But i feel i have to put this on here because i almost cried for mankind when i encountered these two evil spoiled lil sh*tz! two kids were checkin out some phones in my store and i asked how i could help them very nicely and they very snarky like said "oh no we were just comparing our iPhone 5's to the inferior materials and technology in the Samsung Galaxy S3, i mean who would ever buy some plastic cellphone" and before i had security escort them and ban them from the store, i very kindly said "well people would buy a phone built from plastic because just in case they drop it, it wont break compared the fragile glass in an iPhone"
73. PhenomFaz posted on 26 Nov 2012, 14:18 3 0
really? really? really? PUHLEEZ FANBOY!
dude Apple cretaes shortage of their product supply in the market to increase product demand...they do it every year and this year when Apple has lost its number one position you are once again turning to supplier excuses only this time you blame Apple's downfall on them?
grow up mate....apple has to take responsibility for its own shortcomings without pointing fingers...its the only way they can make a better product and that holds true for every company!
And what lawsuits? Sammy was being barraged by Apple and was equally involved in lawsuits like Apple but even then they managed to produce winner devices and even though Sammy lost one lawsuit I guess they;re the real winners as theey outsold Apple by more than double!
It may be too early too tell for you but the consumers have become smarter and realized that Apple overprices, overcharges and oversells their inferior hardware and software...so Fanboy get a life and crwal out from under your rock!

And
alot of law suite ?
And who started it ...

As we said in the post, there are much more Androids being sold than iPhones, but iPhones bring much more money, so it's not like the poll is irrelevant.
25. Droid_X_Doug posted on 26 Nov 2012, 06:57 3 6
Unless you are Samsung. Then Androids bring as much $ as iPhones.

I think Apple will always have good margin, that's where they position their products.
But to talk about war of platforms we must talk about market share, and Apple has already lost the war in smart phones.
They will lose and tablet war next year.

Haha, I want Apple to be more open like using standard USB port, allowing more options on iOS like default browser, keyboard, using standard media format...
that's for a start man.

Of course Apple bring more money because it has no expend on R&D, bring in law suit money and lack of innovate idea - Tim Cook. Despite of law suit, Apple wants the court to included Samsung's new device - GS3 and Note II as part of patent infringement.
Overall, Apple is literally will be losing mobile market. ppl have undoubted about it. you should look at all iDevice for yourself and myself included when walked through isle of iDevice - iPhon5, meh! Why bother? it is wasting of my time.

Money is not everything ..
Innovation is..
U can survive with over 150% profit getting on each sale .. like Apple
But no innovation u r almost gone ..
Eg. Nokia, BB(RIM)..

I feel sorry for you man
You are just too retarded even to speak
Steve jobs is basically is the one behind all the ideas in the market rigth know
Samsung ,htc,LG,google they all are really good in one thing
Stealing ideas
Either you want it or not 2-3 years from know they will all run out of (stolen) ideas and go down
Especially GOOGLE AND SAMSUNG
15. tedkord posted on 26 Nov 2012, 06:33 31 0
All Apple ever did was steal ideas. Slide to unlock - the Neonode N1m. The iPhone form- the LG Prada. Drop down notification shade- Android. Grid of icons on a phone - Palm.
All the way back to the graphical user interface - stolen from Xerox PARC.
35. darkkjedii posted on 26 Nov 2012, 07:38 3 20

First off learn how to spell. Second Google and Samsung not stealing APPLE boring ideas.!! Apple software but its Samsung idea that UI, the components, the chip, the battery all that make up the Iphones Samsung is behind it. Don't fool yourself Buddy! The only thing that apple can say is theirs in those stupid phones is the software. Do your research

Agreed too. I am an android fan and i salute steve for his really revolutionary innovation. Now steve is gone and Apple's new Tim isn't as innovative as Steve... How is apple gonna win?
58. switza93 posted on 26 Nov 2012, 09:40 4 0
Apple never has and never will have a chance against the new fleet of Android phones coming onto the market. Thousands of people leave Apple for Android on a daily basis. Apple will fall like RIM...
65. Reluctant_Human posted on 26 Nov 2012, 11:36 2 0
They actually have a better chance without him cause he was too rigid and the market is changing. Apple's biggest drawbacks are bad press from stupid lawsuits and refusing to adapt to the market. The we are Apple and can do no wrong mentality can only go so far. Don't believe me? Ask RIM.
These new iphones with slightly better specs and unchanging software is reminding me of the Blackberry BOLD.
87. metalpoet (unregistered) posted on 26 Nov 2012, 19:51 0 0
i love how it doesnt give the option to pick for "apple will lose with/without jobs" but either way Jobs was an overall brilliant man.

2. Peter98 posted on 26 Nov 2012, 05:55 2 6
I'm an Apple fans but I gotta tell everyone. Steve Jobs is really a mastermind of Apple.
Hope they can continue the innovation brought by him.
22. Droid_X_Doug posted on 26 Nov 2012, 06:45 2 0
I don't know whether Steve was 'the' master mind at Apple. More likely his contribution was insight across 3 or 4 disciplines and he had the drive (and power) to push his vision through to completion. The iPhone basically built on the iPod. The iPod gave Steve the ability (aka cash) to pursue the iPhone. The succes of the iPhone gave Steve the ability to pursue the iPad.
The new team at Apple need to collectively have the vision that Steve was able to pursue. So far, we have seen more of a building out (iPad mini for example) of Steve's contributions. If Apple is able to do to video what it was able to do to audio (iTunes and iPod/iPhone/iPad), maybe it can eclipse Steve's contributions.
At the moment, the jury is still out, however.
29. anywherehome posted on 26 Nov 2012, 07:03 6 0
Tell me 1 innovation from Steve......
I really can't find any
He just made you feel special..... just brainwashed you :-)
59. switza93 posted on 26 Nov 2012, 09:41 1 0
Apple never really had innovation after the iPhone 2G (there best iphone ever)
3. sportsinger75 posted on 26 Nov 2012, 05:56 1 2
I feel as though Steve wanted to keep things simple and win that way, but I also feel that if he were still alive and well, he would be doing a lot to try and bring a lot more innovation to Apple like he did his whole career with them. Things were never stale when Steve was around, and he always seemed to know just what to do to bring the people what they wanted and needed. Right now there just seems to be like a lot of confusion within Apple as to what to do in the mobile market right now. They need a true leader and innovator willing to do anything it takes to stay on top and I just don't feel like they've got that anymore.
4. Nocturne posted on 26 Nov 2012, 05:57 11 1
Steve Jobs was great at hype,. Most of his ideas were just stolen and re-packaged from others, but he was offended when others did it. Blaming the customer, not admitting his product faults and basically saying everything was unnecessary until his company released the product.
He gets too much credit for being innovative when he was just eccentric.
Great businessman but average innovator.

It's not a question of whether or not they will fail but whether they can continue their domination of the market. Clearly Apple isn't going to close it's doors if a Nexus outsells its phone.
