Wi-Fi signal strength an issue for users of the new Apple iPad
0. phoneArena 21 Mar 2012, 17:27 posted on
Some users of the new Apple iPad are having problems with the W-Fi signal strength on the tablet with some users saying that their iPad is unable to hold a connection; it is the tablet at fault as some have been able to run an Apple iPhone over the same router without a problem...

This problem was so irritating, I got so fed up with it. I have spent a lot of time on google, looking for a solution to this. I did a bunch of research came across WIRED magazine and found a extensive and detailed review of Pong Research cases. These guys make a very special case which has a built-in antenna in between its layers, which redirects and boost the signal and range of your new iPad, iPhone and other devices. As a result, I'm able to connect to my router from much further without a problem. Besides that, this also comes with an improved version of the Apple Smart Cover which asides from retaining the sleep/wake function, because of its origami design, you can fold it and stand it in 5 different positions - very cool in my opinion!

Well...frankly I don't deny the people with issues, but I haven't had any issues with anything so far.

How has your experience been? Have you had the overheating problem? My wife is thinking about a tablet and I am pushing her towards the iPad2.

Good old apple quality and innovation, can't even figure out how to make wifi work, LMAO. Wait for it, they'll say "you have to hold the iPad upside down, at a 68 degree angle tilted forward when the moon is full or it won't work. Duh."

Of course, Samsung can't even make a phone that can get your location right. I hope you don't end up in the wrong location because of bad GPS. Of course, since it's Android, it's excluded.
36. bayusuputra (Posts: 941; Member since: 12 Feb 2012)
eerrmm, since when, punk?
anyway, GPS is not really a necessity, you don't use GPS that often, unlike WiFi that is kind of a necessity with tablets/smartphones..
it's like saying, apple don't have an umbrella to walk under the rain, but you defend that by saying that Samsung don't have a purse to walk under the rain, but still have an umbrella..

"Ready to return iPad!!!".... Like I believe Apple fanatics will.

Yeah, expecting a $500+ product to do something as simple as wifi is over reacting. K.

I'm not surprized. The Asus Transformer Prime has issues with long range wifi just like the iPad 2 does. Part of the problem is the aluminum back.

Right, only 3 things wrong so far and not even a week later. Not like you ever overreacted from 1 thing wrong with an Android device eh?
21. andro. (Posts: 1954; Member since: 16 Sep 2011)
A few days old and three bad faults, hardly over reacting, lets not forget this device is meant to be resolutionary!
37. bayusuputra (Posts: 941; Member since: 12 Feb 2012)
andro, you forgot that Resolutionary is different with revolutionary, so now people can only complain about the screen and resolution, but not other things.. and that's about it with the new iPad, only the screen, and nothing much.. not even proper WiFi..

I really think that device manufactures need to take some time to make better devices and not really worry about how fast they can produce devices. Instead of releasing a new iPad every year, take a couple years and make a higher quality device and actually test the device in REAL WORLD situations and not in test facilities. This should go for everyone, not just Apple.

maybe the position is just wrong try holding it up as far as you can. just tilt your head upwards and problem is solved. silly newbie new ipad users they complain too much

We'll see about 90 comments of haters and trolls. I'm sure this is an issue for some, but most likely it will be a minor issue and won't affect the majority of users or sales.
12. denmcdon (Posts: 88; Member since: 07 Jun 2009)
This is bogus will you please find something else to write about besides the iPad iPad iPad iPad iPad iPad iPad itts the best tablet out there get over it all these stupid post won't change any thing there selling millions of them for a reason They work period.

Why does phone arena need to have an article for each of the problems with the ipad. No device is perfect, samsung galaxy s2 had heating problems
and the samsung galaxy nexus had radio problems as well
All of the comments have been troll comments or jokes, if there is something wrong with the ipad, take it back, get a new one, it hasn't even been out for a month yet! Most of the bugs will get ironed out in updates, like the s2 and nexus, they were resolved in updated, but they had problems in the beginning.

Considering its THREE things so far and the iDevices are sooooo popular what did you expect honestly.
40. bayusuputra (Posts: 941; Member since: 12 Feb 2012)
ok, so you said the S2 had ONE problem and the GNx has also ONE problem..
so two out of two devices..
and this is THREE out of ONE device..
"Why does phone arena need to have an article for each of the problems with the ipad"
PA had its fair share of the shiny features of the iPad, too.. so it's fair to state both sides, i think.. and they also features articles about problems of other devices, most notably the GPS issue in the Transformer Prime..

I was a diehard android user still have some android phones but after buying my iPhone 4s and now my iPad3 I have got to say these devices are great they just work no lag no studdering ther smooth and just work no pulling batteries turning phone on and off like my wife with her droid x stop hating people give credit where credit is due.
41. bayusuputra (Posts: 941; Member since: 12 Feb 2012)
i give credit where it's due, but i give critics when they are due as well..
42. frydaexiii (Posts: 1231; Member since: 01 Dec 2011)
Yeah, when those Apple products can do half the things the Androids can without jailbreaking and encountering problems, tell me...
18. denmcdon (Posts: 88; Member since: 07 Jun 2009)
Doesn't get any warmer than my Samsung galaxy tab 7.0 plus I had.

So it overheats, has WiFi woes, battery life complaints, heavier and bulkier, and isn't as fast on LTE as many phones? Yep, that's revol- ...sorry, reSolutionary all right
23. phonton (Posts: 59; Member since: 27 Dec 2011)
like making the not so capable phone, "4G" capable by just outing a Software update, this issue ( if accepted by APPLE) would be easily solved. Just another update from APPLE for wi-fi issue and the device will start showing full signal strength even if the N/W is not being broadcasted. SPECIAL PEOPLE will start calling it "INNOVATION" ... :D
24. greathero1 (Posts: 483; Member since: 13 Jun 2008)
Well I am glad mine has neither of the three problems. To those who do, call Apple Care and get the issue resolved.
25. andro. (Posts: 1954; Member since: 16 Sep 2011)
Its like 2010 all over again ala the phone 4. The serious faults are reported, apple reacts like theres no such thing as faulty apple products, ifans come on here defending apple like mad,all while more and more brainless people buy the faulty products believing its all not lies against apple and later act shocked if their idevice is faulty. I dont think they Will ever learn!!
27. denmcdon (Posts: 88; Member since: 07 Jun 2009)
Like its any different with android andro?i had and still own an htc thunderbolt I remember the problems I had with that phone my fingers still hurt from pulling the back off to pull the batt and the galaxy nexus I had for a short time I was lucky I got 5 hours batt life out of it beside the fact the earpiece was a piece of crap but let's beat up apple.I don't make it a habit to get on a rant but I beginning to feel this site is frequented by a very young crowd.I am very happy with my iPhone and iPad and so is my wife and kids with there's.remember every product has its bad points android and iOS it's just a matter of prefence.
30. theBankRobber (Posts: 647; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
Most of your post I see is how you had such a bad experience with android and moved onto IOS. I don't hate ether product, I have my likes and dislikes but I don't go out of y way like you to praise 1 specific product.
32. denmcdon (Posts: 88; Member since: 07 Jun 2009)
If I was praising android would you bother sending a post like that I think not.for your info I do like android it has it's plus'but right now ios is doing it for me.
28. stealthd (Posts: 967; Member since: 12 Jun 2011)
The only reason we're hearing about this is because it's an Apple product and the most minor detail get's 10x the attention it deserves. There aren't widespread wifiproblems, there's a few cases that are being blown way out of proportion by the less rational media like phonearena (anything Apple = clicks = $$$). No one reported the Kindle Fire's wifi issues, yet ask anyone who works in an Amazon call center and the majority of their time is spent dealing with wifi issues. No one reported that the HTC Evo, one of the most popular Android phones out there, would stop charging for no reason and need to be replaced on a pretty regular basis. No one reports on the crappy antenna's Samsung's phones that are liable to make every other text message fail.
The worst part is the idiotic trolls that eat this crap up.
29. theBankRobber (Posts: 647; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
Probably just needs a software tweak. Most phones that are released have some wifi issue and require a software update.
43. frydaexiii (Posts: 1231; Member since: 01 Dec 2011)
Yes, because software fixes everything, just like how Apple turned the iPhone 4S into a 4G device just by upgrading the software to say "4G" instead of "3G"
45. theBankRobber (Posts: 647; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
Yes some tweeks can fix the issue, some times even with updates , wifi have signal problems and need another update to get if fixed. You would be surprised how things are fixed with just a few tweeks and a update.
31. Somerandomguyyy (Posts: 8; Member since: 13 Mar 2012)
Just sayin but it may be the same problem as the prime. May not just be software
44. remixfa (Posts: 13907; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
thats 3 major issues..
unable to charge and play games.
