Why would it be cool if the iPad 3 has a 2048x1536 pixel screen

0. phoneArena posted on 06 Mar 2012, 10:23

One of the most anticipated new features in the upcoming Apple iPad 3 is the higher-resolution screen. The most popular take on this is that the said screen will have a pixel count four times higher than the one on the iPad 1 and 2. This would actually make for a display resolution of 2048x1536 pixels...

I would think all tech devices coming out with higher and higher resolution would be a good thing!

And of course the iPad 3 will have a higher-res screen!

They'll use it in CSI:

Since there's lot of detail you won't miss much even with your naked eye. You just have to be alert!

"I think I have a clue! Zoom in on that grain of sand 300 pixels from the left and 400 pixels from the top!"

Yawn. I owned an iPad 2 it was effing useless. Give me a 1080 Galaxy Note 10.1 and I'll be in heaven.

Amid all the announcements and releases during MWC, wasn't there a tablet or two that already had this resolution (or higher)? Too many articles to sort through, just wondering if anyone recalls off the top of their head

Thanks.
My money's on LG or another brand using an LG or Sharp screen.
I wish ViewSonic, with all their display knowledge and excellence, would release a super HD screen, instead of the mediocre stuff on their tablets thus far

4k oled.... probably not anytime soon

these articles are not to say the iPad is the first to have HD resolution... what its saying is for apple users this is something "new" for them. its funny how we misinterpret what we read to take it as a direct challenge to what we use...haha

lol...

you guys are hilarious with the jokes...

i have the ipad 2 if the screen is the only "new" thing i'll pass on purchasing it... even though it would be "cool" to have the benefits of the HD screen.

besides the "app grid" (i admit is bland), the functionality of the OS is smooth as butter and very integrated into the apps and programs open fluently; very easy to use.

Ipad 3 will do BIG things tho... im for sure...

1080P videos won't be much better if the ipad 3 is the same aspect ratio. You are loosing screen real estate as well as potential pixels on black bars thus you will be loosing much of the potential. You will still be able to view 1080P at full resolution, just at a reduced size more similar to a 7" widescreen tablet. Looking at photos and text would be the largest improvements.

Why can't any of these journalist WAIT for the offical press conference to get the official specs instead of making people thinking it's the real deal

Why would it be cool?

Good question.

Since your article sets out to answer that question, a better way to title the article would have been:

Why it would be cool...
