Who made the best Nexus phone for its time: HTC, Samsung or LG?

0. phoneArena posted on 21 Nov 2012, 07:56

Ah, the Nexus phones - probably the most beloved handsets in the entire Android universe. Never really achieving the status of top sellers, but always being highly-regarded, as they have not only been cool pieces of tech, but have also helped Google guide its partners and introduce new versions of Android...

12. danny_a2005 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:23 24 20

Totally agree.. If Nexus 4 would have been made by HTC this year I would totally buy it.. Sorry LG never liked your hardware.. I bet the camera on the nexus 4 sucks

16. SleepingOz posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:34 14 19

So according to you, the Nexus 4 would've been better only if it had an HTC logo on it? Oh man!

19. danny_a2005 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:42 31 14

No, HTC is not only a tademark, HTC means quality.. Have you seen a comparison of the Optimus G against DNA? You should.. And look what Samsung has done to Nexus.. Plastic phones.. Sorry but the galaxy's are really ugly..

28. SleepingOz posted on 21 Nov 2012, 09:14 9 8

Having higher benchmark scores doesn't mean that the DNA hardwares are better since they're using more or less the same hardwares which invalidate your "LG never liked your hardware". Not to forget that the Optimus G is running 4.0.4 while the DNA is running 4.1.1 with project butter. It'd be really bad if it doesn't manage to score higher than the Optimus G.

32. SleepingOz posted on 21 Nov 2012, 09:32 7 12

"and even tough it seems that Droid DNA preforms slightly better(due to 4.1.1), the Optimus G is good as well. Moreover, the South Korean flagship even runs faster in some apps."http://www.android.gs/htc-droid-dna-vs-lg-optimus-g/

"The Droid manages to refresh webpages slightly faster, the Optimus G launches the camera app quicker, and in the end, both perform quite similarly in terms of day-to-day use."http://www.gforgames.com/gadgets/htc-droid-dna-vs-lg-optimus-video-battle-28011/

Also no one talked about Samsung here, you seem to ignore that HTC phones are also made of plastic. And the DNA is one of the ugliest phone out there. Try harder next time you want to troll.

sleepy wake up plzz!!

DNA is one of the ugliest phone !! R u Good??!!

52. mr.techdude posted on 21 Nov 2012, 15:00 7 1

SleepingOz mate wake up u doosh, the HTC droid DNA has had people all over the world saying "what a beautiful phone"...........etc. Ur really sleeping, sure HTC uses plastic but its poly carbonate, and has that matte feel to it, Samsung uses the same poly carbonate plastic but they put a glaze over it which feels like pure cheap plastic, so stop posting comments while ur sleeping OK

67. amiroo posted on 22 Nov 2012, 03:40 3 2

exactly!! dna is the most beautifull monster.

75. gelo0291 posted on 24 Nov 2012, 01:03 3

"HTC phones are also made of plastic". Totally incorrect. My HTC One S is made of aluminum, treated under thousands of voltage called the Micro Arc Oxidation process, which is also used in satellites, which makes it's aluminum 200% tougher.

68. IHateApple posted on 22 Nov 2012, 05:28 1

I voted for the Galaxy Nexus for one sole reason: It had Android version 4.0.1. Period. IMHO that feature made it better than even the SGS2!

On a personal note I wish phones like the Motorola Razr had come with ICS from the start.

71. DylRicho posted on 22 Nov 2012, 07:37 1 2

Don't forget the One S and how that pulverises the One X and Galaxy S III into the ground. :)

35. RaKithAPeiRiZ posted on 21 Nov 2012, 10:46 4 3

Htc made the best nexus in my opinion , htc had the best display ,the best CPU ,the best designs during its heyday ,so they did a excellent job at it , LG also did make a great nexus but still its missing some things like a Sd slot which htc had back on its nexus, in my opinion Samsung nexus s comes third best , followed by the kind of half baked galaxy nexus which clearly shows htc had dedication

45. JBSIMDI posted on 21 Nov 2012, 12:52 3 4

Read some articles related to Nexus devices. Google did not want a SD slot because they didn't want to confuse users (and didnt want to pay patent fees to MSFT)

39. PhenomFaz posted on 21 Nov 2012, 11:22 6 4

I love HTC more than LG but as far as the Nexus goes the best is LG Nexus 4 just because it is the latest and greatest in the Nexus camp. its modern the crystalline back looks awesome and the whole phone feels premium. its the best cuz its the latest with HTC coming in at a close second. the samsung nexi devices...not so much though G Nex isnt bad by any means either

69. IHateApple posted on 22 Nov 2012, 05:30 5

Hullo? The device says best in it's time. Not the latest and greatest. As of December 2012 the Nexus 4 is
"obviously" the best.

70. NokiaFTW posted on 22 Nov 2012, 05:45 1

51. KParks23 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 14:00 12 2

I find it actually funny that the nexus 4 has the most votes..... IT SAYS BEST OF ITS TIME FOOLS!

54. jroc74 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 16:05 5

Exactly. This isnt just about specs....its about overall user experience IMO. And the Nexus 4 hasnt been out long enough.

59. lkjhg755 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 17:45 4

You must not have tried out a Nexus 4 before. If you want to talk user experience, the 4 destroys them all. Jellybean combined with the super-fast processor makes the Nexus 4's overall experience as good as any other phone on the market. The Nexus One was great, but it got stuck on Gingerbread, which is a problem for anyone who bought it soon after release and was still on contract into spring 2012. And no offense, but neither Samsung deserved to be called the "nexus" of Android technology.

66. jroc74 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 19:49 1

And I stand by saying the Nexus 4 hasnt been out long enough yet.

Are there any nagging issues, show stopping issues? We dont know. Its too early to tell.

74. KParks23 posted on 23 Nov 2012, 10:20 1

What part of of its TIME! Do u not understand? When the htc nexus one came out it was a game changer!

53. jroc74 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 16:04 2

I say so far....the Nexus One too. The Nexus 4 hasn't been out long enough. The Samsung Nexus's....too many reception issues. Sorry Samsung fans. I had a G Nex, kids mother had a Nexus S.

56. jroc74 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 16:10 1

Also specs, storage, LTE wasnt an issue for the Nexus One at the time. Many felt it had it all. Not too many ppl felt like it was compromise.

Same cant be said for the other Nexus's.

65. moroninc posted on 21 Nov 2012, 19:36 5

That was my favorite as well. I really like the form factor. Perfect size and shape for my pocket and the really liked the curved screen.

7. abdane posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:10 1 8

for each for its own year, the Galaxy nexus is the best... i am saying only for its year not among all !

8. PackMan posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:10 2 5

Samsung Galaxy Nexus because ICS was big leap over Gingerbread and Stock ICS was genuinely better that other Androids with manufacturer overlays of that time.
When Gingerbread was new, manufacturer skinning was needed. Now even though Jelly Bean is great, it lacks things that manufacturer overlay provides.

9. Ravail posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:12 2 4

Galaxy Nexus was the best for its time.

nexus 5...by Sony

11. testman22 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:14 1 4

Samsung galaxy nexus. Ice cream sandwhich was the biggest leap and that was the first nexus to really make the hardware fit the software. I dont know how anyone could say LG when its almost 2013 and they didnt give it LTE- huge misstep

31. iDroid8 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 09:27 1 1

@redmd,testman22,packman,abdane & toiletcleaner-galaxy nexus was sure one hell of a phone, providing the first 4.5"+ "phone" and introducing HD screens outside the states.
only con in it, according to me was the 5MP camera and to some extent the chipset
that said, PA seems to have got a particular liking for the nexus one and made it look like they got some amount of hate for samsung in the later parts of the article......

79. OptimusOne posted on 27 Nov 2012, 17:01

you forget sensation XL, and either HTC Vigor(Rezound) or LG OPtimus LTE was first in LTE screens, but if you mean first in first samsung device with those then i can't disagree

81. iDroid8 posted on 28 Nov 2012, 01:15

i don't know what do you mean by "LTE screens"
and no, i am not talking about samsung-only apple says they have created the best iDevice each time
also, i said outside sates, because the US even had GS2 versions with 720p screens and the phones you mentioned haven't made it out i think

Xperia Nexus OFC!, Joke.. i like HTC one because the design rocks :)

18. dsDoan posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:38 1

Samsung, when it comes to specs. If LG had LTE, I'd go with it, instead.

LG, when it comes to price.

20. bucky posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:48 3 3

The 2 Samsung nexus phone were by far the worst. Especially the galaxy nexus.

Htc made the best one for sure

21. FranksGT posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:48 7 1

The first HTC nexus takes the CAKE.

22. bloodline posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:57 1

Galaxy nexus has been awesome for me, i think the design was completely under appreciated.

I think the nexus 4 has been the best built. but saying that I have dropped my nexus a few times and hardly scratched.

23. darktranquillity posted on 21 Nov 2012, 08:58 1

nexus one by HTC

27. cheeseycheeser posted on 21 Nov 2012, 09:12

I would say the Nexus S was the best at the time. Maybe it's just because I've always loved the design so much! But it had all the best specs, and a great design. I also think the Galaxy Nexus was one of the greatest at the time. Now I love HTC too but I was never a fan of the Nexus One. and the Nexus 4 seems...nice. But I hate he design, and it's nothing special.

29. bhagi108 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 09:21 4

Nexus... One...

34. TheRetroReplay posted on 21 Nov 2012, 09:57

I wasn't all for the Nexus One because of that track ball thing. Didn't like the Nexus S because it didn't feel any different from my Motorola Droid and while I like the Nexus 4 specs, the fact that is lacks LTE is a deal breaker.

I did have the Galaxy Nexus and I really liked it, however I didn't care for it's construction and Samsung's antenna's are garbage.

36. yougotkilled1 posted on 21 Nov 2012, 10:47

The track ball was awesome! You could change the colors of the notifications of the trackball when you received a message. Though useless, it matched the design in my opinion.
