While Google event is canceled, Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 event will go on as planned tomorrow

While some short staffed media outlets had a tough decision on their hands, having to decide whether to cover the Google product announcement on Monday or the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 unveiling three hours later, "Frankenstorm" has made the decision easy...

Yeah, having an event in San Francisco while Hurrican Sandy demolishes the other side of the country.

Where does it say that MS does not care about about people. I live in the Philippines and we have natural calamities almost on a weekly basis so I know how it feels. This is just a tech launch. It's not as if MS is dancing on the heads of those who are going through the hardships of Sandy.

Wow, that got me a lot of down votes, did no one notice the sarcasm?

Didn't use the sarcasm font :)

You do understand that Google's event was supposed to be in New York. The center of the Hurricane. Where as Microsoft is in San Franscico, no where near the hurricane.
10. roldefol posted on 28 Oct 2012, 21:17 6 6
Because nobody is going to want to hear any interesting tech news, or any good news at all. We'll just sit and read about the hurricane all day.

I'm kinda glad Microsoft is going to held the event as planned.
I'm sure many from other countries are waiting for the WP8 launching. Then the Lumia 920 and other WP8 phones may unleash their full features to us.
And of course, not going head to head with a Google event is a good thing.
Having said that I hope nothing bad will happen to the New Yorkers. And the Google event will be held in the near future.
14. Tips_y posted on 28 Oct 2012, 22:13 4 0
Thank you for saying that. I live in the Philippines and it would take about 2 months for WP8 to reach us so more delays will be a disappointment. I commiserate with the East Coast people. We are visited by bad weather almost on a weekly basis so I know how terrible it is. But this is just a launching in the West Coast. It's not as if MS is spitting in the faces of those unfortunate people.

Whoa, I originally though only Google, Microsoft, and T-Mo. were going to be holding events. Now Microsodft too? Major hype.
In other news, I'm saddened by Google's postponement. :( Still want to see what MS is going to be showing though.

I'm really hoping for some info about windows 7.8. Seeing how the only really good win8 phone is the 920 and its locked down to AT&T, I won't be upgrading. I'm praying that Microsoft won't screw over us current windows phone owners too badly.

First the World Series and now this.Must be great to live in San Fran. Meanwhile, us New Yorkers got this stupid hurricane to deal with on top of the cancelling of Google's event. Not to mention, power outages galore. Sigh...

this is a classic example of a reliable company in times of turmoil. A company should still go through with bringing its services specially in times of dire need. Just imagine during these times if a company you were relying on breaks down or cancels something during a hurricane. Im from the Philippines and have relatives in New York, a a brother who we are worried so much about, but because he is still able to contact us here during these times, we are less worried because this is what technology can bring us. If a company can push through with all they have promised during times like these, im sure we can rely on that company to still be able to help us during these dark times. Kudos to microsoft, I'm sold that you wouldnt be bailing out on anyone specially on times when they need your technological advances. Guys, isn't this how technology supposed to be, to make life easier, specially for those in need... :(
