Which smartphones can T-Mobile customers buy for LTE service?

0. phoneArena posted on 31 Jan 2013, 10:06

With the roll out of its LTE network presumably days away in Las Vegas, to be followed by a launch in Kansas City, it is now important for the carrier to csarry LTE supported smartphones; some of the handsets already in the mobile operator's lineup support the service while other upcoming models are expected to be released with LTE on board...

I wonder with more LTE coverage will their prices go up.. If tmob had better coverage in my area and better phones right out the gates with other carriers I would consider them. As it stands I will pay more for better service ( in my area)

MetroPCS already did that. Once they began piggybacking off Verizon's LTE, their price plans gradually went up.

hey bub, MetroPCS developed their own LTE infrastructure. there price plan was cheap, however network and phone sucked.

Everyone wants The Best Phones, The Best Network and The Cheapest Prices... one of these things is not like the other.

Verizon: okay phones, great network, high prices
Att: great phones, great network, high prices
Sprint: okay phones, marginal network, great prices
T-Mobile: okay phones, poor network, great prices

Again like i said u get what u pay for...

Verizon: good phones, great network, high prices
Att: great phones, mediocre network, high prices
Sprint: okay phones, poor network, great prices
T-Mobile: okay phones, mediocre network, great prices

This is my opinion...

Networks: Verizon < ATT < Tmobile < Sprint

I'd give T-Mobile a "marginal" on network, and sprint a "high prices" and "marginal-to-poor" network rating. They're priced almost exactly in-line with AT&T's non-Mobile Share plans, except they offer unlimited data (a joke on their network) whereas AT&T offers 3GB for the same price. Verizon's is only "great" if you get LTE, unless you have a non-smartphone.

I have used Sprint before and their network was way better than T-mobile. The cost of Sprint and T-mobile are the cheapest out there. Now if only T-mobile's network would work underground, off the coast by half a milem or in some back country. These two would be equal. Verizon is the one and only company I have never used. It's like buying a new car with so many costly tiers. The same goes AT&T, I would never go back to them as well and their costs

Tmo's network is great depending on your location. From my home to work I never lose 4g and always above 10mb in speed. Also my commute is a total of 44 miles a day and during that drive I'm streaming music on Google Music The whole time.

I understand that you can get truly unlimited data with Sprint, but definitely not GREAT price that you guys had mention. Acceptable willl be the word that I use

Also, this isn't taking into account phones on At&t that you can buy(unlocked) and bring over.

I have T-Mobile S3 (T999) and since I did that 4.1.1 update i see my phone now says LTE under the network mode

Any one else????

13. cptbeatstix posted on 31 Jan 2013, 16:06

Yeah the update for the ones on TMO do say LTE in the network mode. But I don't believe it will catch the full speed. Still will be faster than the Current HSPA+ though. Who knows, it may have a disabled LTE modem in it that no one since the release of the phone has seen. Highly unlikely, but still a chance.

18. archangel9 posted on 31 Jan 2013, 21:18

When I got the same update to 4.1.1 ,it says LTE/GSM/WCDMA and I talked to a TMobile rep and she told that the current GSIII(T999),will be LTE enabled.

16. MC1123 posted on 31 Jan 2013, 18:22

it's really nice to hear that the z10 will be their first phone with LTE

17. Fuego84 posted on 31 Jan 2013, 18:41

I'm okay with T-Mobile HSPA+ speeds but if 4G LTE turns out to be more expensive then I hope that HSPA+ doesn't get phased out of extinction rather a drop in price would be excellent.

19. archangel9 posted on 31 Jan 2013, 21:19

It won't .It'll be LTE/HSPA+ etc.

I have AT&T and I like the network their phones but I hate their prices for service my brother bought a Samsung GS3 on sprint and around town he gets between 1meg-3megs down and an average of 1.5megs up on sprints 3G but it was never the case the speeds used to be way slower but ever since sprint upgraded their towers the speeds have risen substantially I've noticed that he gets the LTE sign on his phone every once in a while and when he does I clock an average of 18megs down and 15megs up on speedtest.net but I'd have to say it all depends on where you live some carriers have better coverage then others. As for me I'm ditching AT&T in March and I'm switching over to Sprint. Just in case if anyone is wondering I'm currently in LA
