Which one would you prefer: iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c?
0. phoneArena 11 Sep 2013, 05:57 posted on
Apple unveiled not one, but two new iPhones yesterday - the premium 5s and the plastic 5c, which is designed to be a bit more affordable. Even though there's a small difference in terms of pricing, however, we think most will agree that the difference isn't really that substantial. Without a doubt, many people will soon be facing a merciless dilemma - which new iPhone to get?...

See, they could've KILLED it with the general public with the 5c "if" they had priced it aggressively(which we all know they didn't), particularly in emerging markets around the world. Also would've been a great alternative to their iPod touch line as well, talk about a missed opportunity. With a $549 outright price for 16GB for basically last years specs/performance, I really don't think anybody will be happy about that even potential buyers before the announcement. I think even tho they raised the price a bit on the 5S, that's a little bit better value. Having said all of that, I'm still completely in love with my Launch htc One, even 6 months later.

Agreed.. At that price you could get a G2.. That comparison isn't even close.

Where are all the Apple fans, users.....?
Where are they hiding....?
92. gallitoking (Posts: 4630; Member since: 17 May 2011)
not hiding just letting the haters have their day, is things like an Apple release that keeps them happy, I on the other hand will be ugrading to the 5S for sure....fingerprint scanner is the difference and iOS7
95. Googler (Posts: 813; Member since: 10 Jun 2013)
So your current iPhone won't be getting the new iOS7 update?
107. gallitoking (Posts: 4630; Member since: 17 May 2011)

If anyone picks the iPhone 5c you really don\'t care about smartphones in general and are more turned on by fruity plastic colors and Apple logo than innovation. And then comes the question what\'s so innovative about the iPhone 5s? No one is doing 64bit because it\'s useless with phone apps on a device with 1gig (or even 3gig) of ram. And while a finger print scanner is a wonderful idea you only use it at specific points. You won\'t use it during regular use. It reminds me of the mute or rotation lock switch. Your not going to use it multiple times playing angry birds or browsing the Internet. It a feature that is very good but won\'t be used much.

None cause too expensive and too small screen.
But between two the 5s is the only one that bring little news
29. SonyPS4 (Posts: 199; Member since: 21 May 2013)
Between these two i would take Iphone5s. Gold ver looks very elegant

Well as a ex iPhone user, I really don\'t see a \'POINT\" to purchase 5S, well probably just ignore the existence of 5C(seriously, I really not sure what is the reason I should get it, price cheap? NO. Cheap plastic feel? YES.). So back to 5S, other than the button, I can\'t find any wow factor, but still that doesn\'t really BIG WOW to us, and lastly the 64-bit processor, well indeed it is impressive but still it does not contribute to daily use factor.....
43. rawbow (Posts: 396; Member since: 30 Mar 2012)
lol and how does 4 pimped up gimmick cores contribute to daily usage>? Oh I know, that's how much droid needs to run smoothly..LMBO!
60. supersammyfans (Posts: 25; Member since: 24 Nov 2012)
Well i agree with you and it's can apply those on Samsung Galaxy S4, personally i really don't think they need an Octa core to run the devices, seem over to me, because now a day a lot decent Android device actually can run on Dual core chip but still run very smoothly without need of Quad core chip

Retina display and siri, still apple\'s best innovation. All this other new stuff \"eff\'d\"
58. phoneguy (Posts: 187; Member since: 08 Jan 2009)
Siri? Apples best innovation? They didn't innovate @$#it. They bought a company out so it didn't go on Motorola droids which it was initially intended for.... Apple hasn't "innovated" since the first iPhone. They have just played catch up and marketed it as "remarkable". 5s camera with low light? Please, Lumia devices have way better cameras and take amazing low light shots. 64 bit? Sounds like more fluff to market to zombies. Will the phones sell well? Yeah. Are they remarkable innovative products? NO. they are nothing more than any other smartphone.

I'd prefer to be out of reach if these were my only choices.
37. samzkrnd (Posts: 5; Member since: 02 Feb 2013)
Apple doesn't need innovations because they have fanboy and counting on it.as a loyal user, you would even buy iphone made from brick.

There's no 'Other' option. I don't want both.
In India, S4 and XZ are more affordable than 5C (as per announced price).

iphone 5s > any android option
iOS 7 is amazing. i'm happy i'm leaving android. i thought i would wait until the nexus 5 launch, but i'm really confident about the switch. i just have to decide which phone and which carrier.
61. ayephoner (Posts: 832; Member since: 09 Jun 2009)
android still lacks refinement and usability. i dont have time or energy to tweak android the way i would like. i want convenience over specs or customization.
plus, everyone i know has an iphone. it just makes life easier to have one too.
82. good2great (Posts: 1022; Member since: 22 Feb 2012)
good for you man... that's exactly why i switched a year and a half ago.
every one of my friends and business associates have iphones.
i think android is amazing but like you, i dont have the time and patience anymore to root and tweak a phone to fit my needs i want it to perform straight out of the box.
as for this article i'll be holding on to my iPhone 5. no upgrade for me.
96. Googler (Posts: 813; Member since: 10 Jun 2013)
Agreed, I don't have time or energy to tweak Android the way I would like either. I set it once and haven't changed a thing since, only took 5 minutes. Now the convenience is there because everything on my N4 is set exactly like I want so it's extremely efficient because I customized my layout a long time ago.

Black 5s. Can't you all read! Only post which one you prefer. Not your dislikes.
49. Erthling (Posts: 15; Member since: 08 Oct 2012)
Best screen size for 1 handed use, great features, lower price...
G Pro is being sold here for a cheaper price than the S4, with a Half Inch extra real estate.

Picking up one of each colour of the 5S! One for me and two as gifts
54. Whateverman (Posts: 3157; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Thic whole thing strikes me as very hypocritical... (No offense to you Ray. S, I think you're great)
Samsung does plastic and it "Lower quality materials", "feels plasticky", or other phones have a "more premium feel". But Apple uses plastic and the story goes, "a fresh plastic body in various colors, will likely be even more comfortable to hold due to the smooth plastic"...WTF!
I never went for the whole "iPhonearena" belief that some people have here, but I really am starting to see it now! Aside from the great new gold-ish color and a great implementation of the fingerprint scanner, THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PHONE FROM 3 years ago! And you're marveling at the design as if were something we've never seen before.
For the iPhone to grow and become better you guys have got to stop giving glowing reviews to a phone that hasn't changed in 3 freakin' years! They pinched off a real stinker yesterday and you guys went nuts like it was something special, no hint of disappointment in any article. These phones are a load of crap and you know it PA! Be real with Apple and tell them the truth. That next year, they either give us something new or start looking for a tombstone.
67. Commentator (Posts: 2088; Member since: 16 Aug 2011)
Given Ray's um... "affinity" (to put it lightly) for Samsung and Windows Phone devices, it makes perfect sense that a "fresh plastic body" appeals to his senses.
69. HansGoneInsane (Posts: 241; Member since: 09 Aug 2013)
The iPhone 5 is from 2012 and therewith not 3 years old but rather 1 year old. The iPhone 5C is an iPhone 5 with colorful plastic exterior and therewith made of tech that is 1 year old. The thing one has to admit is that the iPhone 5C is very overpriced by about $100. The iPhone 5S however is a great phone that is totally up to date also from the specs side. The screen size is not counted here because it only reflects your personal taste. Personally, I wished for a larger screen.
100. Whateverman (Posts: 3157; Member since: 17 May 2009)
Hans, I just can't agree with you there my friend. Stectching it out doesn't make it a new design, just a new model number. There are no new speaker grills, no curved glass, nothing that says "I am a completly different phone". Here's a test... Line up the iPhone 4, 4S, 5, and 5S, all the same color. Place them face up with the screens off and place a sheet of paper over the bottom halves of the phones. See if anyone can identify which is which, without touching them or moving the paper. You can even put the paper over the top halves. Either way, 99.9999% of all people, techies included, would have no way of identifying one from another. Now as lazy as Samsung has been in the last few designs, you can do the same test with the GS 1, 2, 3, and 4, and people would have a much easier time because they all have different designs or variations.

59. kindlefireowner (Posts: 275; Member since: 05 Dec 2011)
Fanboys or Loyal customers? Apple is in the business of making money for their shareholder's. That comes first. Pleasing tech geeks means nothing when every housewife in Ohio wants the new iPhone.
68. bubbadoes (Posts: 307; Member since: 03 May 2012)
here is my poll: how many readers out there are tired about Apples unveiling event bragging about the aluminum diamond cut edge of the iphone? Isn't that so old of news? Didn't the iphone 5 use the same opening comments?
72. roldefol (Posts: 2855; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
Hey, I have a great idea... if you know the poll is iPhone vs. iPhone and you would never, ever buy one, DON'T VOTE. Let the Apple fans have their day, and move along to some real news.
83. TheKookiemonster007 (Posts: 12; Member since: 26 Oct 2012)
Ok, so apple is replacing the iphone 5 with the iphone 5c??
the 5c is just a iphone 5 in a cheaper to make housing so they will make more profit
93. Penywyz (banned) (Posts: 255; Member since: 13 Aug 2013)
LoL, D. None of the above
Only a fan boy would pay $ for either one of those.

A moment of silence for all the Apple fanboys on the gayest phone launched ever *Scans his middle finger on the fingerprint id sensor* #iPhone5s
106. artealis (Posts: 98; Member since: 15 Dec 2010)
hi PA why there is no "i don't want iphone" option?
i want LG G2.

This video still stands!
114. jphillips63 (Posts: 136; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
Hey PA why not add a Samsung a HTC and a moto phone in the polls? Are we being biased as normal?
115. Valoni (Posts: 10; Member since: 11 Sep 2013)
Henceforth only those who are not aware of the technology would buy the iPhone, Apple has not revolution. I am waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S5 which will be a real revolution.
116. Professor (Posts: 97; Member since: 02 Aug 2013)
Forget to add the option of buying the "old" iphone 5.
As long as the iphone 5 still available and for the same price of the "new" 5c who is going to buy the cheap (to manufacture) plastic 5c if both are being sold at the SAME price and they are basically the same phone.
117. 9thWonderful (Posts: 228; Member since: 24 Jan 2013)
whatever iPhone comes with at least a 4.7" screen...gets my vote.

The price is not that reasonable I think, I don't want to both.
