What we didn't know until a few hours ago, is that today would mark a watershed moment in phone development, that will address the weakest points of our favorite convergence devices in one fell swoop of announcements...

google should incorporate these things in their next nexus device, hardware + the goodness of JB..it will blow away all the other OS rivals.

4. Non_Sequitur posted on 05 Sep 2012, 16:29 9

It needs to happen. Google would win the smartphone game forever.

Nokia has admitted it faked the OIS ads, have they faked the low light photos as well?

Nokia is desperate these days and they can do anything to boast their phones.

PureView with 9MP? smh

2 months, then it will be Android's 5th birthday. They will probably release the Nexus then. I hope it will really be 5 devices. Either 5 Nexus smartphones; made by HTC, Samsung, Motorola, LG, and Sony; or 4 smartphones made by HTC, Samsung, Motorola, and Sony, and 1 Nexus 10 inch tablet made by Asus, as a more premium version of the Nexus 7. All with either S4 Pros or OMAP 5s, 2GB RAM, and 4.5"+ HD (10.1 FHD for the tablet) displays... Would be like a dream.

13. nnaatthhaannx2 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 17:20 4

That actually seems somewhat likely

27. Commentator posted on 05 Sep 2012, 20:42

A Nexus PadFone would be pretty cool.

11. Sniggly posted on 05 Sep 2012, 17:04 1

At this point, Motorola puts out relatively timely updates for its flagship models, their version of Android is virtually stock anyway, and their hardware is already kickass. I say they don't really need to make a Nexus phone.

14. Berzerk000 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 17:43 1

That's true, but I would rather get the updates directly from Google. Because, unless you buy the new Razr unlocked, you're gonna have to wait for carrier updates. And more than likely, Google will put the Nexus phones for a low price off-contract on Google Play (compared to other unlocked devices), like they did with the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus.

So; pay more for unlocked Razr, and wait a little while longer than the Nexus, or buy it from Verizon and wait God knows how long

Or; Buy an unlocked Nexus for (probably) cheaper and skip that little manufacturer overlay step for updates. Or wait for carrier to get it (especially if you're on Verizon or Sprint and want LTE) and not have to wait as much as compared to the carrier branded Razr.

15. Sniggly posted on 05 Sep 2012, 17:49

Well, you're also not counting factors such as build quality and battery life. The Razr family has way better battery life and is much tougher.

And I hate to say it, but the Nexus doesn't seem to perform as well as people would like. Verizon is apparently getting returns out the ass on them. I had a coworker get three Nexuses, and then bring them all back in for the Maxx instead.

Ultimately it's up to you and I wouldn't begrudge any decision you make. I personally want the new Maxx really, REALLY bad.

17. Berzerk000 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 18:11

I agree, but if the rumors are true, there should be multiple Nexus. Meaning... A Motorola Nexus maybe? And all of them should have their own respective characteristics of the manufacturer

Motorola; tough unibody design with great antennae and possible kevlar

HTC; metal/polycarbonate unibody design (maybe ceramic) and a great display

Sony; polycarbonate unibody with great camera

Samsung; offers removable battery and exandable memory and vibrant SA HD display

Now, it's debatable whether there will be 4 Nexus smartphones and 1 Nexus 10 inch tablet, or just 5 phones. I hope it's the 4 phone and 1 tablet deal, because the only other manufacturer would be LG, and well... Yeah.

19. Sniggly posted on 05 Sep 2012, 18:21 1

Sadly, the last rumor I heard about a squad of Nexus phones is that the manufacturers would be Sony (good) Samsung (good) and LG (Good God, NO!! NO NO NO!)

Motorola was not mentioned anywhere in the discussion.

20. Berzerk000 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 18:35 1

Yes, I read about that and hope it was a lie. Considering the only Nexus device I would consider getting is either an HTC or Motorola (MAYBE Sony), and neither of them were mentioned. That made me sad. I just hope Google will hear what we're saying and listen to us... I mean come on, it's Android's 5th birthday, and with the rumored multiple Nexus, it's only natural that we think of 5 Nexus devices for the 5th anniversary of Android!

21. Sniggly posted on 05 Sep 2012, 18:41 1

I will side with optimism and hope with you on this. I think that LG would be a retarded choice for a Nexus manufacturer whose devices would probably just alienate more customers from Android.

24. Berzerk000 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 19:37

True. I kind of have faith in LG with this new Optimus G coming out. A complete beast in the spec department, and their Optimus UI is a bit more polished than before. And that plastic is gone. Though, who knows, they could pull an... Well, an LG and have it suck lol.

25. metalpoet (unregistered) posted on 05 Sep 2012, 20:09

Please god just have Google come up with a super phablet with great specs and release it on all carriers to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone! Its about damn time to have several phones that follow what the GS3 and Apple are doing, that way we can see all these carriers really put their money where their mouth is and compare coverage, plans, and price! :)

32. Non_Sequitur posted on 06 Sep 2012, 04:43

An LG Nexus would be pretty good because there's no crappy skin over it.

2. infernal88 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 16:22 3

well .... still apple and HTC announcements later his month.
if those two happen to have new techs ...i can say this 2 weeks got more new advancement than the whole past year,,,

3. MalakiMills posted on 05 Sep 2012, 16:23

I wanted to vote for things like camera and screen. But Motorola seems to be the only one expanding battery tech. Gotta vote for that, on my nexus I get a solid day out of it, with the Maxx's battery I could go for almost three!

6. 2pe_2pe posted on 05 Sep 2012, 16:36

shame, nokia could have been the best overall hardware maker for android.. they should give it a try like when they did with Meego. Perhaps a single Nokia Android device would sell more than all their WP combined, thats why nokia isnt considering the idea..

7. FrostyDanny posted on 05 Sep 2012, 16:38

What is the point of the big battery if we cant switch it out? Plus my dad has the Razr Maxx is takes forever to charge!!!! If you are truley are a power user and run out of battery life even with the Maxx you are f**ked because of how long it takes to charge! I love the razr line but this one BIG issue kills it for me and prevetns me from buying it :(

12. Sniggly posted on 05 Sep 2012, 17:05 1

Charge it overnight while you sleep, broski.

And besides, what do you need the removable battery for?

23. redmd posted on 05 Sep 2012, 18:56

You need that to take out the fully consumed battery then place a fully charged one. This is useful in places where there's no outlet or while you're on the go.

8. shadowcell posted on 05 Sep 2012, 16:44 3

I'm still waiting on the one that makes me a hot cup of cappuccino.

9. i3izkit311 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 16:45 1

I'm really waiting on the quad core... these improvements are only minor in my book - let's go big (and not like the phablet).

None of those phones are innovated without Samsung Smart Stay feature.

18. CX3NT3_713 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 18:17 1

The Sammy ativ, is just a SGS3 body... what's innovating about that? ?( tho it looks great) the Nokia 920 seems like great phone

16. eman99 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 17:58

i think all low end phones except that good looking motorola

22. jroc74 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 18:42 1

I plan on getting the Maxx HD...but I voted for the Lumia. Outdoor viewing is under rated.

28. Alistaire posted on 05 Sep 2012, 20:47

for the currently 26.01%... with up to 1grand for a phone??!!. One could get a phone and a tablet and have a whole ecosystem of devices. I would keep my Lumia 900 and spend the 1 Grand on a new macbook air!

29. jove39 posted on 05 Sep 2012, 21:59

Razr maxx is my dream phone today...will buy it as soon as I can!

30. 1ceTr0n posted on 05 Sep 2012, 22:01

None of the above. I want the Note 2

31. rassouli5 posted on 06 Sep 2012, 02:26

Actually I was pretty disappointed with the design. It's too bulky, cheap andastic look like.
