0. phoneArena 21 Dec 2012, 15:28 posted on

With an average time of 4.8 months, HTC was the fastest to update its Android devices while the slowest of the major manufacturers was LG with an average of 11.8 months to update; of the major U.S. carriers, the fastest was T-Mobile while as you might have expected, Verizon brings up the rear when it comes to updating its Android models...

Wow, looks like AT&T has done well on updates. Too bad they're still on 2G, though.

That wasnt a very smart comment considering u can't update over 2g/edge, and AT&T usually has the fastest (LTE) speeds.

Heh... I saw these numbers posted on a different site (sorry for cheating on you PA), yet with an entirely different slant. Amazing how any two people can take the same data and arrive at two entirely opposite implications.

I find PA to be one of the least biased sites.
I like the news that Gizmodo posts, but I can never agree with the writers (nor the commenters) opinions.

Oh give PhoneArena some credit "Johnny", they're just upset and disoriented that they can't inject ipHone in there. But alas, I have, so all is well and merry.

I would actually say Asus and ZTE, Asus always updates really quickly and ZTE had the first non-nexus device up to 4.2, which was just a midrange phone.

Yeah... Have to agree. Asus are really swift with their updates. Even without the nexus 7, their light skin on android Is perfect for swift updates.

So these actually go from the original release date of the phone, not when the update becomes available at all.

Yeah! the same way they upgraded my X6 and N97 (high end phones at that time) to S^3 and the same way Lumia 900 ($700 phone) users are enjoying WP8 at the moment.

nokia did drop the ball on the 808 though

phone came out this year and they have killed off any major updates by ending symbian

they slapped everyone that bought the 808 in the face. especially for the price of the phone

so they do forget there customers, especially loyal ones. they wanted to make the transition to wp8 so bad they dropped those who went for there big symbian hitter

Where's the Galaxy S3 for Sprint? You guys don't have anything about it. It was the first US variant to get updated to Android 4.1.

Besides the nexus, HTC only gave their phone one update unlike Samsung which is getting ready to give SII its second update which is Jelly Bean.

Seems HTC should have gotten some poor marks for dropping support and never updating several devices. I have owned two HTC devices what went EOL after less than a year and never saw an update. Never again

Funny that on the chart for LG, there is no second update bar. Also, Alan's getting a bit vulgar with the Verizon customers. Lol
