Its not more advanced it has a bigger battery. I turned off smart actions and now it lasts me a whole day so im fine with the thinner razr.

3300mAh huh? i think i'm leaning more towards favoring the MAXX here.
out of the three colors of the original Razr i think i like White the best then Black then Purple.

Told you all this yesterday--All you have to do is wait a month and ALL OF THE $300 phones on VW go down to $199.00 a month later......Charge, Bionic, Rezound, RAZR all have followed this track....All you have to do is wait it out....Nexus Prime,,,you're next...

Ahhh remember the days when carriers were leery at charging us $100 for the top smartphone in their stable? Seriously I will tell my kids some day, before Apple came along and f*cked up the pricing structure for smartphones you could get a top tier smartphone on launch day for a $100 subsidized pricing. That was value.

Then you clearly don't remember the original RAZR being priced $500 on contract when it first launched.
If you want, I can do a bit of research for you and show you all the pre-iPhone times a phone was priced over $100.

You are right, but I was really referring to just smartphones. I don't remember the OG RAZR being a smartphone.

All these replacements a month or two after the previous model is total B.S.
These manufacturers and carriers are ruining it for the market, the customers, and the retailers.

The carrier's (speaking of VW) will stop this $300.00 non-sense if everyone boycott's this $300.00 craze...Just like the public stood up to VW for wanting to charge $2.00 to pay your bill--They reversed there decision...Just like Netflix, BoA, Wells Fargo and Chase all have backed out of their decision to raise fees because of the public outcry. Don't buy these $300 phones when in a month they go down to $199.00, $149.00, then discontinued in less than 7 months--Droid 3 for example.---why you are stuck on a 2 year contract!!!!!!! The FCC needs to look at this practice!

what does it matter if the Droid 3 was discontinued? the 2 year contract is for your data and your upgrade at the subsidized price points and you still have the 1 year warranty on it so if you have to get it replaced you could pull off getting something else. i've done it with a Devour and an Incredible, my sister is still rocking her Incredible 2 and i sold my Droid 2 long ago to bury the price of getting the Droid 3 and i might trade in the Droid 3 for the Droid 4 in a few months if i don't trade it for a Bionic or something.

This statement is win, contract also gets me an upgraded phone with a warranty replacement. Seems like when a phone is discontinued you get a replacement of the newest one they have in supply for replacements. Gotta love new tech coming so often, if you just hang back and just watch and wait, you can get something that is akin to what you really like. I got my DX for $50 bucks a year ago on a 2 year contract, go figure. If you can't find a deal on some great piece of hardware you aren't looking hard enough.

My RAZR in its otterbox Commuter case is only SLIGHTLY thicker than a Droid X bare, so I'm thrilled how thin it is, even in its case. I have been getting AWESOME battery life, Usually 3 days (72 hours) Last night I charged it, 10% @ 2 days 20 hours. I don't really mind the DROID RAZR MAXXs release or the price drop. I picked a phone and I'm sticking with it, it just HAPPENED to be awesome.

I have yet to see the price drop or the purple phone on VW website. I was thinking about this or the rezound. I saw the rezound drop and was going to take the plunge but if the razr drops then I might do that instead. Any ideas when this might happen.

Same, I have been checking the VW site since the article was posted and have yet to see the price drop on the RAZR. I am guessing maybe the 19th? The day the RAZR MAXX is supposed to be released. They can't charge the same price for two phones that are different...so I am thinking they won't give customers a break until then.

If only this thing came with an HD display. I've got a D2 and love it, but the Razr would have been more tempting with a better display.
Still a beast though!
