The slightly more distant future promises double the low-light performance and an always-connected camera that leverages information from the Internet like the weather to automatically set white balance, saturation and so on.
But that’s not everything. Sensors will continue evolving and we expect add-on lenses to slowly start to make their ways onto smartphones in one form or another. We’ve all heard the rumors about a Nexus 5 coming with a revolutionary Nikon camera unit.
Putting it all together, we get a truly enticing picture of future smartphone cameras. Moreover, we see even less reasons to own a dedicated point and shoot camera.
