Water resistant coating? Wait a minute - Does the Droid RAZR have this Liquipel coating on it from the factory?

7. Lucas777 posted on 12 Jan 2012, 01:12

im almost positive it doesnt… i read about this discovery a while back--it was on notable science journals so i believe this stuff works well

10. BattleBrat posted on 12 Jan 2012, 02:24

According to Motorola's website description of the RAZR it has;
"A force field of water-repellent nanoparticles shields the phone against water attacks — even the electrical boards inside." Is that not the same?

12. Lucas777 posted on 12 Jan 2012, 03:20

wouldn't it have to be endorsed by liquipel and therefor have some sort of branding?it could possibly be, but i would think there wud be some recognition if it was

14. BattleBrat posted on 12 Jan 2012, 20:48

Perhaps it has something identical inside it that uses the same tech?

Will this void your device warranty?

8. smartphonelover posted on 12 Jan 2012, 01:18 2

What about devices with removable battery covers? Would you never remove the cover again or would it stay sealed if you removed the cover, then put it back on again?

9. dblue45 posted on 12 Jan 2012, 01:55 1

What about the charging ports and the headset port? Won't the water come through there??

13. kellkeezy posted on 12 Jan 2012, 08:42

did you watch the little videos?

15. SPcamert posted on 12 Jan 2012, 21:26

According to the warranty posted on liquipel's website:
"...WE NEVER SUGGEST OR RECOMMEND THAT YOUR DEVICE MAY COME IN CONTACT WITH WATER OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF LIQUID. We do not warrant that the coating of your device will work perfectly or that it will work under all conditions.
We warrant that the coating will be applied to your device in accordance with our design specifications and that neither the coating material nor the application process will damage your device. We are not responsible for any damage which may occur to your device, including, but not by way of limitation, through your use or misuse of your device or during shipping to or from our coating facility."

So in other words, if it doesn't work...it was a nice try.

I got my Galaxy S3 Liquipeled in June and it's saved it from getting destroyed at least three times by now. I dropped it in a bubbling jacuzzi and it survived. Needless to say I was convinced. It's crazy because you can’t tell anything has been done to it, it comes back all clean in a metal container with a microfiber pouch. All in all I’d say its worth the $59. You no longer have to worry about losing a phone over a spilled drink or a little rain. Just makes you feel good.

Liquipel is going to be at CES again this year and I hear rumors of a machine doing free treatments at the show, can’t wait to check it out.

I have found this video lately.. Quite more interesting I think. Two common cell phones working under water for 15 minutes. I don't know who they are but this video is impressing.

You can see a similar product on a crowdfunding project just released on indiegogo, looks impressive stuff and you do it yourself no need to send it off to anyone which is cool.
