Watch out, the iPhone 5 may have a 5th row of apps!

0. phoneArena 07 Aug 2012, 20:28 posted on

We've been wondering what kind of tricks the new iPhone would have up its sleeve, and we may have just come across some definitive proof that the device will be called the iPhone 5, which could be in reference to having 5 rows of apps per home screen...

Any article about Apple is a flame war waiting to happen. It doesn't matter what the tone of the article, or even what the subject matter is. People have very passionate opinions, and my sarcasm over the subject matter doesn't change that.

If anything, I'd hope my sarcasm would show them all to take this stuff less seriously. I mean, come on. It's a story about how many rows of apps are in iOS 6. Why should anyone be passionate enough about this topic to be angry at some sarcasm?

You're trolling in your titles now Michael? At least we weren't subjected to another 18 paragraph bore job.

Don't worry, Taco. I've got a long piece ready to post in the morning. I'm looking forward to you complaining about the length once again, without realizing that you have the power to just ignore the article.

Also, sarcasm isn't trolling. If you feel like the number of rows of apps is something to be passionate about, that's on you, not me.

I'm not passionate about the number of icons, but since you obviously are not an iOS fan you should stick to writing android articles. You're title was on the level of the common troll comment we see in the comment section.

Are you lashing out because Samsung is getting its ass handed to them in court?

Come on Taco, a little sarcasm every now and then doesn't hurt... I bet if one of the more iOS favoring authors on this site said something sarcastic about Android you wouldn't have a problem with it.

I've never seen such a biased title from any other writer.

It's not biased, it's sarcasm. Learn to take a joke. You aren't an Apple executive, you shouldn't be taking so much offense to this. And you shouldn't be talking to anyone about them being biased. Like I said, if someone made a similar comment about Android, you wouldn't have a problem. Such butthurt from you, get over it.

I'm going to venture a guess and say that most people who frequent this site (myself included) are either unsatisfied with their current phone or are just very interested in cell phones. I'm also going to guess that most people don't really care all that much. Many people, when given a choice, just buy an iPhone and are satisfied with it. Most of those people are not looking at phone websites. We can make fun of these people and call them naïve loosers, but the fact is that Apple makes a product that sells and makes a butt-load of money for them. Incremental changes indeed, but the smart money says that this next iPhone will continue that trend. I'm a big fan of android but I invest in Apple because of it.

indeed.. the best new look for the OS goes to blackberry 10! especially the N9-like home screens! every one like the look of the elegant N9!! to bad it has a bad parent!! and thank you to its new home.. its going to live!

the mediocre look on iOS wont win any award.. but since its an iPhone.. every other people will want one (including me, even though im not a fan! :)) and WP8 dont really looks that good but its not the same tiles on WP7/7.5 (bt since one of its player is nokia... people will buy it)

i like androids launchers though(even i dont like android)

i hope they will just change the look.. i know they just want it look simple and elegant but i hope they will consider the mediocrity of the OS from the 1st version to the newest version!

unlike android.. you can actually change the appearance.. and blackberry and symbian you can have themes!

You can get launchers on Symbian too. Pretty much anything Android can do Symbian can, and in some cases it can do more. Both great capable OSes

that's why i so love symbian platform!!

i really think nokia should consider symbian as the OS for low end smartphone not s40!! s40 are for dumbphones!!!!

i am being redundant coz i want nokia to do it!!!!

android on the other hand lags a lot and cant handle too much mutlitasking.... and a battery hog platform (no offense)

Agreed. I'd loooooove to see what Symbian could do with power from even top 2011 phones... Dual core, plenty of RAM... Even more so with current devices like an OneX, or Galaxy S3

yah... it can run fluidly on 600mhz to 800mhz processor... ad the best symbian now is 808 pureview and it is also the best camera phone.. (even one of the dslr fan said that it can put cameraphones and digital camera to dust and can challenge few dslr)

what else if symbian will run on high res screen and multicore processor?

but im not counting to that.. i just want nokia to put and make symbian platform as low end OS of smartphones!!! windows phone cant do that because of restrictions(but lumia 610 runs fluidly) to make it one of the best OS out there!

honestly the best OS out there is still symbian, iOS, BlackBerry and windows phone... you can be very at home with those platform!

I think PhoneArena articles are the least biased. I think they do the best job of keepin it real, by pointing out the good and bad of EVERY manufacturer.

If you are pro Android: go to androidcentral.com
If you are pro Apple: go to cultofmac.com
If you are un-biased: you are in the right place

Its actually lost a lot of its pro-apple stance over the last couple of years, either as authors grew disenchanted it other OSes demonstrated their superiority. There are a few holdouts here and there, but of the major phone websites, the most openly pro-apple frequent writer, in my experience, is Sam Biddle on Gizmodo. I enjoy reading here because he authors don't seem to have string agendas and actually seem hereto care about tech and are curious, like us, to se what's new and whatswaround the corner, most notably the author of this article, Michael H, who write a good series about getting and converting to Windows Phone, and Victor, who is clever about getting in subtle digs on frivolities and focuses on the core experience or features of his subject matter, as far as I can recall
