@jpropin "Thats why many spend so much time attempting to validate their own choices by slamming others people choices and other products. Feeling superior is what its all about. Quite High Schoolish, but what can you say." Maybe I'm just an idiot, but it seems your comment describes Apple itself better than it describes any of the people complaining about the company.

Maybe I'm wrong, and damn me if I am, but after reading the comments on this article and all of the other articles regarding this particular subject, I've got this really, really funny notion that the large majority of people on here complaining about it, don't even own the product. I own a Chevy. Why should I care about what Ford does or why some people choose a Ford. See what im getting at.

You actually SHOULD care about Ford and why you should choose one, seeing as how Ford hasn't taken a drop of taxpayer bailout money, and has turned record profits since the recession. Chevy on the other hand, took taxpayer money in the form of a bailout, still hasn't turned a profit, and has since made commercials lying to the public saying that they've "paid back the gov't money in record time, with interest". All the while, the REALITY is that they paid their gov't loan off with ANOTHER gov't loan! Chevy might as well be the Apple of the auto industry! Wake the fuck up!

A is for apple. That's how we start out teaching little kids. Too bad Apple's behavior has not progressed beyond that juvenile level. Oh, and they've been 'accidentally' over-reporting signal strength. Yeah, right. Squeeze a TV remote hard enough, and you might be able to flex it enough to affect battery contacts. Is this relevant?

The problem is none of the other devices are dropping calls like the iphone. Mr. Jobs is trying to spin dropped bars into dropped calls, but it is just not the case. He is acting like a baby and needs to grow a pair. If he would have just admitted there was some design flaw / production issue to begin with and told people that they would remedy the issue for those people having the problem, he wouldn't be taking the PR hit like this. I have bought apple products in the past, but I will not buy the in the future. I do not buy products from companies I don't trust, and I no longer trust them. He can show all the youtube videos of deathgrips he wants, but I am noy going to believe a single one of them. I know what his motivation is, therefore, I am not sure he is adding interference in these videos to achieve his desired results. For somebody that is supposed to be a genius, he sure is acting like an imbecile.

So if you notice the dial is all wrong....and If the phone had service at all it shows up as 3g with two arrows and then the signal bars. I call BS on this test. Plus I have the phone and I tried it. I'm in the bottom off an apartment at this time and I dropped NO BARS. I tried while on a call...nothing happened. I think its also funny how they disabled the comments on youtube. Apple give it up...you're phone just sucks. Next time you should listen to your engineer who told you there was a problem and guess what!? THIS TIME YOU CAN'T PLAN AT&T!. That has got to burn.....

This test is 100% fake, I've tried this test a million times, at work, at my house, even out and about and I never lost any bars (lowest I got was 2 bars, but never lost my 3G). and why arnt they showing the 3G symbol? my droid X has been the best phone I've ever used.

if they are going to do this to smart phones then go all out and do it to all the smartphones on the market, do the incredible, the droid, the ally, the LG EnV touch, nexus one.

It doesn't matter what other phones they do. This still makes Apple look bad. You really think this will change my mind about your device. Take away the antennagate BS (as SJ named it) and you still have the iphone well earned reputation for dropping more calls than any other phone. The goal is to improve with newer models right? With every video Apple looks sadder and sadder.

The video is obviously fake. One it looks heavily edited and not real time. There is no connection to 3G or anything which makes me think they just edited the service bar to make it drop bars on que. And who holds their phone like that? Oh apple does does when they are trying to make a bullshit point that isn't even true.

Apple is desperate. Seriously just give up you guys made a Sh*ty phone so don't try to back it up by making a fake video of an AMAZING phone that completely destroys the Iphone 4.

Okay, quick question here Why the fuck would anyone want to squeeze the life out their phone when making a call??? Why I ask, why. If so, then you might have some serious problems and should talk to someone about it. And if you don't feel like doing that, Then buy a FUCKING phone that can withstand your abuse. God I'm starting to lose faith in my own kind

The only way I figure it is not showing a 3G or 1X symbol next to the signal meter, is if they are on an extended network and did not enable allow roaming for DATA. How is this anything close to a fair test. They are not even in VZW coverage.

Another Steve Jobs smokescreen... Any douche can take a phone to an area of no service and make this happen, especially if squeezing the sh*t out of the phone. I wish all these manufacturers would put the bullsh*t aside and come together and class-action this sh*t. Well, at least AT&T's flagship phone finally matches the quality of their customer service and network...

Class Action for what? Hurt Feelings? It's not like they stole technology and caused the lose of billions from theirrivals bottom line. This will blow over. Droid fans will keep buying Droids and iPhone fans will keep buying iPhones. And everyone involved will contimue to make a load of cash.

Too bad droid x doesn't have this problem. I don't and i have tried it. Anyone else with a droid x have this problem? No? Yea i thought so. It was iphone 4 OWNERS that reported the death grip, not motorola, not verizon. There has not been one single motorola droid x user that has reported any death grips. That's because it doesn't exist. But you obviously will believe anything apple tells you.

I don't have the DROPPED CALLS PROBLEM but all you Verizon's customers think that it drops them constantly, stop bashing on the iphone 4, there both good phones.

You folks are worked up over nothing - phones have issues - it happens - I know over 100 people with IPHONE 4 and even people at the mall who I do not even know, when I ask them about their "death grip" phone, they laugh because it is not an issue for them. Funny thing is when I search for a death grip spot on my SAMSUNG CAPTIVATE, I actually found a spot where, when gripped, I get an extra bar or 2. Most people who bash AT&T never had an iphone and yet gullibly read some articles by bloggers, watch some youtube videos and read PHONEARENA and think that all or most IPHONEs have issues - the reality is that they do not - but, I still will not be buying an iphone, because I can think for myself. I hope some of you can, too.

I agree, they are both great devices. But this is a PR nightmare for Apple no matter if the calls are dropping or not. Most of us just feel like Apple is insulting our intelligence by showing clips of phones that many of us own and trying to convince us that we have this problem too. The fact is Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, HTC, nor did Rim report this issue to the public, or posted clips on YouTube. So declaring war with these companies on video just seems pretty stupid. A couple of ip4 users that posted those clips and they didn't have to squeeze their phones either. You can believe this is about Apple vs Android or VZW vs ATT all you want to, but it not. When Steve Jobs said that it happens on EVERY phone, he invited EVERY cell phone user into this debate. He did that! And you have every right to defend your beloved company and CEO. But don't expect that the rest of us will just swallow this crap whole. We know BS when we see it.

Easy - ignore it - I come on this site for insight on phones that are not out yet, and online media such as PHONEARENA perpetuate the non-issue - you are correct as APPLE is creating their own problems - 3.5 millions phones/people later show you that it is not a big deal, but if APPLE does not drop it, then the appearance at this supposed issue will not go away anytime soon.

PA is just the messenger. If Apple didn't put this clips out, there would be nothing to report. If they ignored it, they would have a bunch of emails about how bad the suck for not posting it. So its not PA fault that this is news. Apparently this is a big deal to Apple or else they wouldn't have held a press conference. They wouldnt keep flappin their trap about other cellphones. I would think he he would show us why hos phones stands out from the crowd. But these videos tell me that they are cowards.
