Watch Fitbit Alta's official promo here: lifestyle and fitness tracking in style

Fitbit is on a roll lately: after unveiling the Fitbit Blaze, a $200 fitness tracker that borders on the territory of smartwatches and was seen as direct competitor to the Apple Watch, now the company has unveiled the Fitbit Alta.

The Alta is a more tradition wristband that does not go in direct competition with smartwatches, but instead aims to do lifestyle and fitness tracking in style. Also, it comes with a fairly affordable $130 price. Still, it does have a small vertical display, where you can see not only your steps and daily progress, but also notifications from your smartphone.

So what can the Alta do? It does not have a heart rate sensor, but it does the following:

  • all-day activity
  • automatic sleep tracking
  • reminders to move
  • automatic exercise recognition
  • call, text and calendar alerts
  • interchangeable bands
The most obvious benefit of such a fitness wearable is undoubtedly battery life, and that's where the Alta delivers: it comes with the promise of 5 full days and nights between recharges (still, that's a bit less than the battery life on the Fitbit Charge for instance, which lasts up to 7 full days). Take a look at the official promo right below.
