Current and future owners of a Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ can now pre-order a seriously tough protective case for their handset: the LifeProof FRE.

First announced back in March, the LifeProof FRE for Galaxy S8 and S8+ is a rugged, yet not too bulky case (15 mm in thickness) that's made for adventurous people. The new case is part of the "Made for Samsung" program, thus having passed both LifeProof's, and Samsung's quality standards.

A  LifeProof FRE case will make your Galaxy S8 or S8+ drop-proof, as long as you're not dropping the phone from heights over 6.6 feet (2 meters) - in everyday life, you're unlikely to do this anyway. In addition to that, the new case is mud- and snow-proof, and improves the water resistance of the S8 family.

By themselves, the S8 and S8+ can to survive submersion in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. With a LifeProof FRE case on, the handsets' water resistance will be increased to up to 2 meters for 1 hour.

Despite its toughness, the LifeProof FRE case provides full access to your Galaxy S8, including to the cameras and fingerprint scanner. Moreover, the integrated screen cover won't affect display responsiveness.

The LifeProof FRE case for the regular Galaxy S8 comes in four weirdly named color variants: asphalt black, second wind grey, twilight's edge purple, and sunset bay teal. The model for the S8+ is available in only three of the mentioned colors (sunset bay teal being the one that's missing). Regardless of what variant of the case you want, it costs $89.99 to buy one - you can place your order starting today via the source links below. Depending on the color that you're choosing, cases will ship starting June 12, or a bit later.
