Walmart's Family Mobile plan for T-Mobile has been upgraded to include unlimited data - throttled speeds though

Considering that data consumption is something we perceive to be commonplace nowadays, it’s nice to see that unlimited data is now included with Walmart’s exclusive Family Mobile Play – though, it’s technically throttled after 250MB of consumption...

The obvious catch is the 3G data speed, which is okay for some people, but when Tmobile is offering 5 GB of 4G data speeds for $30 per month, this new plan leaves people scratching their heads.

Second, the phones on this plan is OVERPRICED -- for example, the LG Optimus phone went for as low as $70 (regular price of $129) on Virgin Mobile goes for $179 on Tmobile. So basically, Tmobile is charging as much as $50 to $100 more for the same phone.

Well ardent1.. its not so much of a scratch your head if you know what your looking for.. the Walmart new plan includes 5GB of data at 3G ( thats somewhere in the range of 1-5mbps) it also includes talk and texting unlimited for $45. Tmobiles $30 for 5GB is just that.data it only has 100 mins of use! The closest offer Tmobile has is $70 for 5GB of 4G data ( usually from 4- 10mbps) and talk and text unlimited. so for those who dont mind a little bit of a slower connection they are able to access the same amount of data at high speeds for almost half the cost and still have unlimited talk and txt !

Not gonna pay $199 for the phone + 2-year contract
2GB data is pretty enough for me.

Is it possible to rollover these data as the talk time? LOL

I think I want that 19$ "unlimited" that someone was offering.

Repulic wireless has the $19 plan but it is still in beta -- something about how you can't handoff a wifi call to sprint network seamlessly. One more thing that LG Optimus phone is like $180 given its $199 for the handset and first month service.

Rebublic wireless looks good on paper but as you said and ill agree its still in beta and they use sprints network, they also want most customers to offload traffic to wifi networks so you cant really say its unlimited cellular service. also theres no notice of how long they will stick around... but I do like the idea of $20 unlimited talk and txt even if it didnt include data.

PS with walmart mobile you forgot that you dont have to purchase a walmart phone you can use almost any Tmobile phone ( pick one up off ebay or craigslist) or most unlocked GSM phones.. something you cant do with cdma prepaid carriers Verizon, boost, virgin, etc..
