Wall Street analysts weigh in on iOS 6

Most Wall Street firms from Piper Jaffray to Morgan Stanley are excited about the introduction of iOS 6 which some analysts believe will help the Cupertino based firm pick up marketshare in the global smartphone market at Android's expense...

"Let's start with a monster prediction from Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster. With the new Facebook integration in iOS 6, the analyst calls the Apple iPhone the new "Facebook phone," especially since he doesn't see Google doing the same with Android. "
Am I missing something here? I've been able to share directly through Facebook on my Android phone for a long time...

I think that feature is already a fossil. . .

I was using my arrow button on my laptop to scroll down to read that, and it was scrolling down so that I read one line per press, when I hit "MAGICAL" I burst out laughing, now people are looking a me.... (I'm at a coffee joint)

it's all over my Sense.. even my phonebook is full of facebook contacts..
like i said, my Nokia 3310 is more advance than iOS 10..
7. remixfa posted on 12 Jun 2012, 09:46 7 5
especially since facebook keeps being rumored to make their own phone.. which is android based.
facebook has integrated with Android for years now. contacts and friend info integrated into contacts automatically, super easy pic sharing, ect ect ect.
iOS6 is not the big deal that it needed to be. Its just more "catchin up to android".
This moron predicts that adding android features will make iOS rise in dominance. I see it going the other way.
Remember those old "if its not an iphone, its not an iphone" commercials? Apple is spending so much time adding android features, they are proving that android is the better platform.. so lets change that to "if its not an android, its not an android".
iOS.. the copycat OS. magically changing things, one copy at a time.
iOS needed to bring something big to the table, and it failed. If Windows8 brings it later this year, i forsee those predictions of iOS drifting to 3rd place behind windows coming true.
8. iamcc posted on 12 Jun 2012, 09:50 4 2
Apple isn't catching up. They did all these things first, they just didn't tell us about them until now...
;P
Sorry.. i'm having too much fun with this.

37. vslayer posted on 12 Jun 2012, 12:11 0 0
android and iphone are not as deep as in wp ***
47. Lucas777 posted on 12 Jun 2012, 16:57 0 0
its not rumored to be android based at all... it was rumored to be wp7 based no?
and what exactly does ios need? what major features is it missing that dont relate to the differences between android and ios?
54. PhoneLuver posted on 13 Jun 2012, 02:43 0 0
I don't disagree with you. Many of these features are old hat!
To be honest I had Facebook integration back when there was something call Windows Mobile.
I think Apple's strength lies in its execution and design. Look at the maps app for example. It's not a new concept, but it "just works". I didn't hear that the app crashed and had to be restarted during the presentation!
It's the little things really. Many IOS users would rather wait a little to get features, but have them work properly.
What I'm trying to say here, is that like it or not IOS and Apple products in general have an air of quality to them.
It's something that I have seen in very few other Android handsets.
Even the great SIII with it's polycarbonate back plate doesn't ooze quality. It reminds me of my old 3GS to be quite honest.
38. vslayer posted on 12 Jun 2012, 12:14 1 0
i think windows phone 8 will be a bang ....... watchout apple and android some of the elements are copied from windows phone whew...
53. frydaexiii posted on 13 Jun 2012, 02:21 0 0
Android user already taken FB integration for granted...
4. PapaSmurf posted on 12 Jun 2012, 09:36 4 3
Facebook integration has been around for over a year and a half thanks to Sense UI, Motorola's Application Platform, etc.
"The World's Most Advanced Mobile OS" would have been true in early 2010.
9. destr0y3r posted on 12 Jun 2012, 10:07 0 4
yeah right, it was shipped in those phones as bloatware
13. iamcc posted on 12 Jun 2012, 10:38 9 1
If it's on Android it's bloatware.
If it's on iOS it's f**kING AMAZING.
Now I get it. Thanks for the clarification!
23. bayusuputra posted on 12 Jun 2012, 11:03 0 0
so full phonebook and calendar integrations with one-touch share across other app is called bloatware?
i bet it will be the same thing in iOS 6, but you pig will call it MAGICAL! hypocrite..

Well it was true until the end of 2009 beginning of 2010 when Android became a mainstream mobile OS thanks to Verizon's Droid Does campaign. Ever since then, Apple's been playing catch-up because Android gave more features than iOS.

That's what I want to know, my Galaxy Nexus craves for it's NFC to be used but not many places have them. And unfortunately the only way for stores to start have the NFC payment system in place is if Apple brings it in their next iPhone
11. lubba posted on 12 Jun 2012, 10:24 2 1
An aging OS with little room to grow, only adding little additions already implemented in other OSs. The "aw" factor seems to be waning. The real excitement is wp8 and windows 8.

I know your job must be tough, writing for the technically inclined readers that visit this site on a daily basis. We can be a really tough audience at times. But com'on man! There is no way that this...
"analyst calls the Apple iPhone the new "Facebook phone," especially since he doesn't see Google doing the same with Android. Writing to clients, the analyst says the Facebook integration on iOS 6 shows a focus on integrating partners into iOS as a way to differentiate the operating system with Android."
...should have made it in your article without some kind of correction or comment from you how this was completely false! This needs to be edited sir.
18. tward291 posted on 12 Jun 2012, 10:48 1 0
also wp facebook integration on wp goes far deeper than ios so you should be more incline to call wp the new facebook phone lol.

I'm sorry to say so, but "analysts" are nothing more than paid cheerleaders that will do, write and say just about anything to push a particular stock or company.

the good thing about the iOS 6 is that Apple fans are happy and the fandroids are having the time of their life.. which I personally prefer... as they are angry most of the year and only Apple brings them happiness one way or another..

We knew this was their time to troll. Let's be honest it doesn't matter what Appke released they would hate it.
These were good updates. Especially the built in navigation and Siri is picking up steam. They usually hold something back for iPhone releases. Last year it was Siri.
Fandroids still don't get it, but the new iPhone will wipe the floor with android.
Android had a couple of advantages. Mainly free navigation and LTE. Both of those will be gone.
31. remixfa posted on 12 Jun 2012, 11:46 4 1
glad to see that you are unphased by yet another lackluster apple release. you go troll.. keep on trollin trolling trollin.. oh yea. close your eyes and troooooooll. lol.
"These were good updates. Especially the built in navigation and Siri is picking up steam. They usually hold something back for iPhone releases. Last year it was Siri. "
google navigation clone minus 2/3rds of the features. Siri is now getting more of android's features and abilities. good stuff!
any more updates and apple's new logo is going to be a rainbow colored robot.
and unlike your close minded idiocracy, I was actually hoping for something big and exciting. Not more "me too" additions. Competition is great for all. When there is one guy always ahead "android", and one guy thats constantly just copying to keep up "apple", there isnt really any competition. Thank god google likes to keep adding new things with our without competition or both of our OS's would be stale. lol.
46. gallitoking posted on 12 Jun 2012, 16:54 1 0
actually it will come true in the JB update.. I mean lets be honest 7% ICS on devices.. and Android is thinking ahead.. leaving another bunch of 1 year old devices.. I think Androids moves too fast that hardy any devices can catch up. but on the bright side iCS will be on 50% on androids by 2014 by then Android will be on whatever "M" would be.. good luck catching up to Android..
49. remixfa posted on 12 Jun 2012, 16:59 0 1
or they could just do like apple, and say your getting iOS6, while only actually changing the OS number.
you are so duped by apple's OS lies. The ONLY phone on iOS5 is the i4s. Nothing below the i4s is getting iOS6.
getting a bug fix with nearly none of the new features is not an "upgrade" its a "bug fix". Android phones get them all the time. Android just doesnt call it "a new OS" like Apple does.
34. Non_Sequitur posted on 12 Jun 2012, 11:59 1 1
JUST having to stick to laggy ass iTunes that still has code 1996 is reason enough to use an Android phone with Google Play Music or Amazon MP3. And the App Store is so frustrating, it's incredible. I can't even put movies or TV shows that I downloaded on my iPod Touch that I paid for on my Android phone without a long and frustrating file conversion process.
Sure, the new iPhone will sell. But only because of all of the iSheeps. You just don't get that, do you? Does the new iPhone have a file manager (which I use almost daily for school and to import Youtube videos to my phone (without iTunes lol). This type of stuff is why I stick to Android.
39. taco50 (banned) posted on 12 Jun 2012, 12:35 1 4
Those are your preferences. Doesn't make people who prefer Apple sheep.
45. tedkord posted on 12 Jun 2012, 15:54 1 1
No, preferring Apple doesn't make one a sheep. I personally am friends with several Apple users who aren't sheep.
Claiming Android is a copy of iOS makes one a sheep. Claiming that new features that Android has had for years are innovative makes one a sheep. Standing in line overnight on release day, and already knowing that you're buying the next iPhone after it makes one a sheep.
40. jellytime posted on 12 Jun 2012, 12:57 1 0
Yep Android owners all hate "Appke".
The thing I hate about this is that it's being praised as the "Facebook phone" because it just got these features while other operating systems already have had them months even years ago.
Apple makes great products but every time they release something new it's getting praised as the first or the best while maybe the others already had them and are maybe even better.
A while back I talked to a guy which told me that the notification bar/center of my android phone was copied by apple Iphones notification bar/center -_-
And no the Iphone wont wipe the floor with android because
both os have their advantages and disadvantages and while Iphone is getting better android also is.
52. frydaexiii posted on 13 Jun 2012, 02:06 0 1
Really? Since Steve Jobs passing, it's been failure after failure at Apple.
First the 4S, then iOS 5, which was basically Android 1.6 Donut, then the new iPad and now iOS 6 which is just Froyo with less freedom.
You really want to add a 5th to that streak?
43. good2great posted on 12 Jun 2012, 12:59 1 3
i agree gallitoking and taco...
iOS users will be very happy with these new features...
especially the ones who are purchasing the new macbook pro...
android users just need to calm down and understand that its not about copying but bringing features to its OS that was never there before... and the cool thing about it... its butter smooth and seems to work flawlessly from what we seen in the demos.
i would say the whole "copy war" would make since if android/apple has patents that are infringed upon... then, it would be accurate to call some one a copy cat.
but Taco, let them have fun with the articles... they have a point and are absolutely correct... according to what android already has it does seem that apple is just now trying to catch up.
42. maryaaadil posted on 12 Jun 2012, 12:58 0 0
Lets see what WP8 can do. WP7.5 was a good upgrade but not a cool OS. I think it will be better than ios6 but in the end,
"Simply" Android rocks...........................

As usual this is NOTHING more than a JOKE. Iphone 4/4s/5 won't be anything special regardless of facebook integration. This is nothing more than incremental updates to a STALE operating system. Matter of fact IOS in general is just plain STALE.
48. gallitoking posted on 12 Jun 2012, 16:59 1 2
yup you are right so stale that thewhole nation will be watching come launch day and the preorders will break any thing SGSIII makes... stale.. yes.. for a "stale" OS they are doing aight
