Typical Phandroid response. Knock a product they don't know anything about because it makes them feel cool.

i'm just thinking about it and this is the only real hardware improvement (except maybe a processor upgrade) I can think of apple changing. Thats gonna be sad if this is the only major change.

A new display doesn't qualify as a "minor" update IMO, especially when there is a big change in resolution. I seem to remember that Motorola has made minor changes to some of their droid products and called them new products. (Droid 1 & 2. Droid X & X2) Not a whole lot changed between them, but nobody complained that they were basically the same product but with "minor" updates. People just love to hate Apple.

Doubling resolution is not a minor upgrade imo.

Apple is in the business of making money, which is obviously one of the things that they do best. Therefore with each new idevice that comes out consumers will buy it. Why? We live in a technical world and consumers want the latest and best model of what they purchase which allows Apple to make minor performance/cosmetics improvements to current iproducts and the consumers buy them up; most not knowing that they can get a generation below for a cheaper price and have the same enjoyment. Great marketing strategy, is it right? All depends on how you look at it, but it's kind of a "what the people don't know won't hurt them."

Gee I wonder why Sammy or LG don't want to provide display's for Apple........
My parents taught me a valuable lesson as a child...Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Apple doesn't understand that unless you are all inclusive and self-reliant then you need to maintain good working relationships. And after other companies see the way they are handeling themselves why would they want that kind of trouble. Spend your profits from your business relationship on lawyers defending yourself from that business that is giving you money?

ummm its actually quadruple the resolution not double. 1024 x 768 = 786,432 total pixels. 2048 x 1536 = 3,145,728 pixels. 786,432 x 4 = 3,145,728. Therefore technically it is quadrupling the resolution. Just saying.
