The in-cell touchscreen technology that is going to be in the LCD screen of the next iPhone just got confirmed by the Wall Street Journal sources, usually a surefire way that it will indeed happen.
The touch layer integration not only shaves about half a millimeter off the screen package thickness, but also improves the image, say screen specialists. Samsung has been doing this with its AMOLED displays since the first Galaxy S, allowing it to make very thin devices with giant screens, like the new Galaxy S III. The next iPhone is also rumored to be thinner than the current edition, offsetting the eventual increase in bulk due to the eventual larger screen.
