WSJ: $99 Acer Iconia B1 tablet headed for emerging markets only

The $99 Android tablet being developed by Acer is not expected to be available in the U.S. according to a person with "direct knowledge of the project" even though the FCC had a chance to look over the tablet; the Acer Iconia B1 will have a 7 inch screen with resolution of 1024 x 600, similar to the display on the Amazon Kindle Fire...

I agree. Their WP8 tablets are crazy expensive, and honestly, Windows doesn't have the mobile swag to try to play the pricing game yet. Follow the path of the Nexus: Affordability with semi-premium quality to establish your clique, then set the standards for everyone else to follow. Kudos to Google for playing the price-game RIGHT

Add import duties, taxes, dealer margin etc and this would become $180+ in India. There are already few players in that range in Indian market and i am sure they will up their specs too if this offers competition to them.

i wish acer would make beter quality tablet though..i had a110 and its good just need to adjust to be friend with the acer tablet, but if samsung would make a 7" version of the galaxy note...with the S pen....were done with the deal guys...and if asus entered the battlefield of cheap 7" tab..the selections will be better though...
