ViewSonic officially announces the ViewPad 7 with "full" phone functionality
Although their presence is mainly found in LCD and plasma displays, ViewSonic is getting their toes wet as they embark on their quest of launching an Android tablet. The company officially announced today the upcoming Android powered ViewPad 7 which is being dubbed as the first in the world to offer “full” phone functionality. Although it doesn't clearly show in the press photos that it'll be packing an earpiece, we'd imagine that voice calls will be done through its usual 3.5mm headset jack. This device will be packing on the delicious taste of Android 2.2 Froyo from the onset and features a 7” WVGA (800 x 480) display, 3-megapixel camera, VGA front-facing camera, microSD card slot, full sized SIM card slot, 3G connectivity, aGPS, and Wi-Fi. Just like the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Tab, the ViewSonic ViewPad7 will be officially unveiled during IFA in a few days. ViewSonic is pricing the tablet at around $540 when it's launched some time in October or some time even later than that, but should nonetheless prove to be a worthy addition to the growing Android powered tablets out there.
