Verizon's Nokia Lumia Icon page is live again
0. phoneArena 21 Jan 2014, 04:49 posted on
You might remember earlier this month, Verizon accidentally outed its web page for the Nokia Lumia Icon. The device, aka the Nokia Lumia 929, has been eagerly awaited because of the top-shelf specs on the phone that mirror those found on the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet, and most high-end Android models. With a smaller 5 inch screen than the 6 inch glass on the Nokia Lumia 1520, the Lumia Icon should give the platform its first true competitor...

Well this is it, because after the microsoft scavenging goes through there is no more Nokia phones. Once MS place their borderline retarded puppets in the place of key nokia designers and managers, don't expect something even remotely functional or elegant.

That is inaccurate, the Lumia 928 have a very similar design, its another Verizon phone , that's how they are all designed, Nokia made the 928 and 929 so don't go on about Microsoft cause its obvious you don't know what you are talking about.
You do realise that all future Lumia's will still be made by Nokia employees right as MS brought on all 32,000 Nokia employees.
Every carrier chose their design this is Verizons. On another note MS products do have great design look at Surface, it basically pushed other OEM's to make better looking devices for Windows 8 but you are hating so you don't concern yourself with facts just slander.

Lol keep dreaming, almost every game studio or smaller tech company MS ate is dead or separated out from them if they were lucky, we'll see what happens to the Nokia crowd. With management like E-Flop, how can they go wrong?
Also stop harping about the Surface. You know why it isn't selling so well, because it's an okay design, not amazing. It's an ultra book that wants to be a tablet but isn't either. Not so good for productivity or entertainment as a laptop or tablet respectively. There is nothing new or amazing about it and just because it runs Windows doesn't make it so.

Right because the surface wasn't designed well? Get out with you m$ hatred.

It's not really that bulky. It's less than a millimeter taller, 1mm wider, and 2mm thicker than the GS4; that's negligible, except for the thickness, but just barely.
5. tech2 (Posts: 1780; Member since: 26 Oct 2012)
The actual difference is 1.6mm wider and 2.6mm thicker than GS4 and not what you have 'rounded-down' to be.
Anywho, still comparing to a year old flagship which supports a physical button and has removable battery, those differences make quite a bit of a difference IMO.
8. o7o (Posts: 54; Member since: 26 Jun 2009)
Well considering the 20 mp camera with a bigger sensor and added wireless charging these 2.6 mm actually aren't that difference
12. tech2 (Posts: 1780; Member since: 26 Oct 2012)
The note 3's 13MP camera is almost on par with Z1's 20MP snapper. We'll have to wait for actual samples to see how good it actually is.
GS4 also has wireless charging.
Its funny how Nokia's 2014 flagship is barely (if at all) better than Samsung's last year flagship. By the time 929 is officially released GS5 will be on horizon. So its not even fair to compare 929 with GS4
26. o7o (Posts: 54; Member since: 26 Jun 2009)
This isn't Nokia's 2014 flagship, it's a Lumia 1520 with a smaller screen for a certain market and carrier. The flagship will come later. Nokia announces their flagship at their annual Nokia World in September/October, and now with Microsoft in charge that could also change, so yes, it's actually a 2013 device which is released in 2014 and it can be compared to GS4.

Well Nokia's cameras are known to be better than Sony's, they're the best in the business.
The GS4 only has wireless charging through a special back cover you have to buy from Samsung, which adds thickness.
Also, this isn't Nokia's 2014 flagship. This is a special Verizon variant of the Lumia 1520, it has exactly the same specs as the 1520, but a smaller screen.

Not everyone is a 90lb skinny weakling like you,, with baby biach hands...
Adult men don't whine about some extra grams... If you're not strong enough to handle a 200 gram device the that's not our fault.. Either you have muscular dystrophy, or you need to hit the gym...
Listen how you sound.. "It's bulky" "It weighs 50 more grams".... You sound weak❕

I assume Sandra is a female.. If not then no wonder he is so angry

Sandra isn't a female... Females are highly evolved creatures... This organism obviously isn't..

hmm which will win? this phone vs xperia z1 compact?
13. bananana (Posts: 34; Member since: 27 Oct 2013)
hope so. i was really on to getting z1 compact, but now this appeared, it makes me to think twice...
23. rodneyej1 (Posts: 3208; Member since: 06 Jul 2013)
Depends on which OS you like.. Both ate great.. Personally, I'd have to choose WP, because that's my pleasure, but others would choose otherwise... Let's just say we're all fortunate for the options we have...

well, my brother owns a lumia and it is a beauty. but i'm waiting for moneypenny, the dual sim WP coz, my old nokia asha kinds of sucks ~
32. o7o (Posts: 54; Member since: 26 Jun 2009)
Hardware wise, they're very similar, it will come down to personal preference, 4.3" vs 5", is 32GB enough for ya or you'll need the extra storage offered by microSD, generally Nokia's cameras are better but Sony's 20mp was very good on Z1 so the compact should have a very capable one, wireless charging vs water resistance...
The OS should be a deciding factor, but WP has been getting a lot of traction lately with some of the largest apps being released almost on the same time as iOS and Android or shortly after, so you'll have to decide which apps you use and whether they (or alternatives) are available on the platform of your choice or not.
33. bananana (Posts: 34; Member since: 27 Oct 2013)
that's what got me thinking. anyways, im going strong for the z1 compact and maybe the moneypenny, dual sim WP phone by the end of this year hopefully =)

Just got off the line w/ Vz & they don't have anythng yet.
I'm so ready to drop some cash for this device.

Maybe you could get it quicker ordering from China (Taobao)?

I think 5 inch smart phones are a better fit for People to handle than the 6 inchers. The Windows 8.1 smart phones that will come out later this year will be the Star
Windows smart phones to have. they will have a more advanced operating system
and new features that Apple iphones and Android smart phones boast they have. Sony may even make a Slim great Windows 8.1 smart phone. Samsung is making a Windows 8.1 five incher. 90% or more of Windows 8 smart phones can receive the Update to Windows 8.1.
Microsoft can now do what it does best make software. they will make great software for
Windows 8.1 smart phones

At VZW's pace, this will hit market June 1st. And, regardless, it will be the last Nokia-built Nokia phone...sadly.

Can't seem to actually locate this page on Verizon's website.
