The build quality, screen, and the speed of the processor should be great, but this will be a terrible phone. Verizon bloatware, plus a smaller battery (2,020mah) should mean this thing will need to be tethered to a power outlet more often than not. World-beating specs aren't enough to offset something that will probably have about 5-6 hours of battery life (The Optimus G has a smaller, less dense screen and a 2100mah battery, and it gets 6-7 hours).

Unless it uses IGZO tech, the battery is going to be terrible.

There are conflicting reports. Regardless, even 2500mah (Do you not even know that it is milliampere-hour, not whatever "mha" is?) is not enough, even with IGZO technology.

There has been only one article that says it's a 2020mah battery and there has been like 20 that says it's a 2500mah battery so not really u just want to be a hater and post the one article to get people hating on it! I don't call 1vs 20 conflicting reports! And 2500 will be plenty it will get better battery than the s3 so stop hating

what part of 1080p display and S4 Pro w/ Adreno 320 graphics don't you understand? it won't get the battery life of the SIII even with a 2500mAh battery. the J Butterfly has a 2020mAh battery and this is pretty much the exact same thing also with this thing supposedly being priced at $199 on contract i'm more inclined to believe that it's packing the 2020mAh battery.

The quad core processor will help and if it's SLCD3 that will help also I can tell u the battery won't be worse than the s3 if it's 2500.. And wth u talking about if it's priced 199 its prolly packing the 2020 that's the dumbest thing I ever heard! What does that have to do with anything

yes it has multi-core efficiency however Adreno 320 uses enough power to bury the efficiency you gain from having quad cores and then some. look at the Nexus 4's battery rating. it's not great and the Optimus G is on par with the SIII at best with the same 2100mAh add a 5" 1080p display to the mix and i promise you battery life isn't going to be in oodles. nobody is going to take you seriously if you keep up with this insult first, think later frame of mind. if HTC went top notch on everything then they'd have a top notch competitive price point. HTC isn't like Motorola, they're going to get their money's worth, especially from their flagships. this'll either have a 2500mAh battery and cost more than rumored or it'll have a 2020mAh battery and be at the rumored $199 price point.

I have SGSIII and it has decent battery life. I can't wait to sell it and buy HTC Droid DNA for MSRP. I don't care what size battery it has. I'd rather have a really nice phone with poor battery life than a really good battery life on a "meh" phone that I don't really like.
Get over this battery issue. It's a phone as a whole. And every phone has its pluses and minuses. None is perfect.
This one is PERFECT FOR ME.

lol with out having played with the phone what makes it perfect i guarantee htc is just going to screw something up again it'll still be left in the dust by the already released note2 sorry but htc is failing for a reason oh and don't forget vzw likes to block a lot of freedom but enjoy your htc phone

Well, I owned HTC Incredible, Incredible 2, Thunderbolt and Rezound. I loved them all. I rooted some of them, so don't know what you're talking about in terms of freedom. I just like HTC phones, they are the best IMHO. I had the Note too, really didn't like the feel of it and the damn plastic. This one will be perfect.
BTW, I think HTC is failing because of poor marketing and bending for VZW too much.

i know every phone isn't perfect but i personally feel like that at this point in the game that battery life and reliability should be the most important things for a phone. my Tablet is going to relieve my power and display needs which btw is going to be a Nexus 10 and the Nexus 10 is more powerful than the DNA anyway. after owning many phones and tablets i think this is the best formula, well or me anyway.

Where did you get 6-7 hours of battery for the Optimus G? I haven't heard anything of the sorts, even when connected to LTE.

Engadget said the AT&T model lasted 8 hours and 43 minutes with their usual video test, which is weird because it lasted longer than the Sprint model which didn't have LTE enabled.

Using the AT&T model for a full day as I normally do brought the 2,100 mAh battery down to around 20 percent after 10 or so hours. - The Verge

The Optimus G delivered excellent battery life, even while connected exclusively to the more power-hungry LTE network here in Boston. - Pocketnow

Don’t worry about the toll that LTE radio will have on your battery: it’s non removable, but at 2,100 mAh, I don’t really see the need for a spare or extended battery. I consistently got through a full day with juice to spare with moderate to heavy usage, - Android Central

Qualcomm's integrated LTE Radio may be more power efficient than the Wi-Fi Radios in these things. that may be something to keep in mind if you have an S4 powered device. i'll put it to the test on my MAXX HD.

Nothing is official yet. It might have a bigger battery and even a sd slot. All we hear are rumors for right now. HTC has made the mistake before with using a smaller battery. I really don't think they will do it again. Especially on this caliber of a phone. The thunderbolt was a beast of a phone and probably the best of the phones being released at that time. I had a couple different phones and the thunderbolt would eat them alive. So let's hope they learned the battery lesson. All we can do is wait and see but we are all use to that by now.

this is a real smexy phone but i don't think it's what i need now. my MAXX HD is pretty much ideal for my phone needs. power and RAM are really the only things lacking in this phone, it's not like it's slow or anything, no, quite the opposite actually, especially on JB but when do you ever stop wanting more power?

with HTC's history of poor battery life, what's to be expected? that 1080p will eat a lot of battery. HTC should have put atleast 3000mah just like the note 2.

Not so long ago Samsung used to be a second-tier brand. Things change. You are not giving HTC a chance.

I will definitely not give them second chance if they continue to give me crappy battery life and non expandable storage. their build quality is top notch. but everything is not about the "look and feel". many people want memory expansion and good battery life. Samsung just happens to give that to consumers so I got the note 2.

marketing and distribution is really another matter.

I just hope the Radio is better than the S3's. I had the Razr Maxx Hd for a second and that was great but couldn't handle the smaller screen and less then good camera after having the S3 for a while. As far as the battery goes, I'd rather plug a cable into an excellent phone occasionally than deal with a sub par ALL DAY. This will be my 1st HTC, so we'll see.

The HTC radios I have heard is better than Samsung's. I have owned several HTC phones and the only one I regretted buying was the Thunderbolt. All have had less than stellar battery life. With the Rezound, I have even got it to the point where I don't charge it every day. I am not knocking Samsung as I was thisclose to getting the Note 2. But I can deal with a subpar battery too. What I cannot deal with, or will give me pause, is the subpar LED notification. A small thing I know, but it's one thing about HTC phones that drives me nuts.

i feel like most people are just complaining that they think the battery life of the droid dna will be bad. but maybe we should all wait for the official announcement from htc and verizon before we start complaining. battery life is not only dependent on the battery size but also on how efficient the hardware/technology is. so let's wait for the official numbers first. and other than battery life, it doesn't seem like people really have anything else against this phone. i'm personally looking forward to it

You're right: all this speculation/complaaining is because we just do not know. Right now, I'm looking forward to the phone's announcement.

I am pissed that HTC settled with Apple and that they paid Apple. On general principle, that is enough for me to choose the Note 2, the S3 or even the Razr HD. But realistically I sympathize with HTC. And I really want this phone to work for me.
