Verizon version of Samsung Galaxy S III shows up on Nenamark Benchmark site

0. phoneArena 12 May 2012, 20:02 posted on

The Verizon variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III was found on the Nenamark Benchmark web site on Friday; the model number of the device was the SCH-I535 and the 1.5GHz CPU sounds like the S4 as does the Adreno 225 in the role of GPU...

So great news... The dual-core Snapdragon S4 is better than quad-core Exynos!

The GPU is better.

Yea, ill believe it when I see it. Anandtech ran full benches of the exynos on the display units at the event and it smashed everything, even the PowerVR in the new iPad3, which is the current GPU king.

The Adreno 225 doesnt hold a candle to the Mali400 in the SGS2 OR SGS3.

I'll trust Anandtech over random profile on a benchmark suite.

No, GPU in galaxy s3 Mali 400@400mhz is faster than gpu of iphone 4s or ipad 2 but not as good as IPAD 3, IPAD 3 has Power VR mp4, it is actually 1.5 to 2 times faster than mali 400@400 mhz... but as galaxy s3 dosent has to push that many pixels as ipad 3, this gpu is more than sufficient to next 2 yrs

whats funny is your saying what he said is true.. but all of those chips mentioned, including the mali 400 are stronger than the adreno 225, which you go on to try to tell me is better..

which way is it? is he right or are you right? hmmm?

bad troll... bad.

what should i say, i know which product is best for what use, so i buy the right thing, in tablets ipad3 has best gpu not the best cpu, right now cpu related work in less in mobile OS, so performance on ipad 3 will always be high.

In phones GS2 was king ahead from iphone 4s in cpu and on par gpu performance as pixels to push was less , it will still be good for next 2 yrs to run any game on android market, so i bought it.

I know right now all tablets are blow up phones, so iam waiting for wp8 which will be a true tablet.

Mean while i bought a bbplaybook which is on par with ipad 2 in any thing except app count.. and has best browser. $200 a true value for money

i just wanted to point out, that the i4s and the ipad3 share the same chip and GPU..
The PowerVR chip in the ipad3 is an upclocked version of the same powerVR chip found in the i4s. The reason the battery is so big is because that upclock sucks juice like a mofo.

I never said the ipad3 was a slouch in the GPU department. .. in fact I believe I called it the current GPU king.

Nothing in phone form even comes close to the SGS3 in benchmarks unless it is a test that caps the FPS.

it's not exactly the same and i think you know this. current PowerVR GPUs have a configurable amount of cores that can be used with them. the 4S and the iPad 2 use the same dual-core gpu core configuration but are clocked differently between the two devices. the iPad 3 uses the quad-core configuration which is upclocked like you already mentioned. hence the "MP2 and MP4" parts at the end of their product names. that's why i separate that part in parentheses usually. the SGX543(MP4) hasn't been nor will it ever be beaten anytime soon unless TI goes with a quad-core configuration for the SGX544 that they're using with the OMAP5 which is possible.

iphone 4s has dual core mp2 gpu ipad 3 has quad core mp4 gpu .. double the performance.. i dont care how many thumbs down i get.
I have bought the best products which i bought after reading hunder articles, doing hands on many devices

Best phone : Galaxy s2, Lg thrill 4g(bcoz i like 3d)
Best Table: BB playbook,.. Performance same as Ipad2, better browser, slightly lower gpu($200 value for money)

ALSO, EVEN THOUGH IPAD3 GPU IS SUPERIOR IS NOT NEEDED IN A PHONE, SO GALAXY S3'S GPU IS GOOD, .. but wait for note 2 to come with mali t604 with 6 times the performance of mali 400

Now even the GPU in SGS2 is better than adreno 225?
Go get your head examined

Why dont you go research it through anandtech before you spout off? That would be neat.

Lets see.. anandtech does a full benchmark suite infront of the camera as proof and it says one thing..

or this random profile shows up and says another..

whoooooo should I trust? hmm.

I've trusted anandtech for like 15+ years.. i think ill keep trusting them.

Can you show me the evidence that Adreno 225 is better than Mali-400MP 400MHz+?
And remember about offscreen benchmark, not onscreen because of ~60Hz refresh rate limit. Almost graphic benchmark tools on PC are also offscreen.

Big joke, Aderano 225 is no way near Mali 400 @ 400 mhz,
Nenamark, vellamo favour Qualcomm chip,
The real difference can be seen in GLBenchmark which all OEM consider, its 103 fps(Mali 400) vs 70fps(S4)

Actually Aderano 225 is just 10% faster than Mali 400@266 mhz which is in gs2, so buying any Phone with S4 u really dont have much advantage over galaxy s2 it self, bcoz these days its is clear that gpu holds the key for mobile devices bcoz cpu dosent has much to do they way it does in PC. Look at IPAD 3, it has old cpu as ipad 2, so the Galaxy s3, HTC onex , s have better cpu than ipad 3, but the key is GPU of ipad 3 which is more powerfull than any thing elese its 1.5 to 2 times more powerfull than gpu of galaxy s3

For gaming, yeah. For processing tasks, no.

The advantage of the S4 version is that it'll have great graphics and LTE, but it won't be as snappy in the background. The Exynos version won't have LTE, but it'll likely run faster in the background. There's also the question of power managment.

But whatever. Both versions will hopefully be great handsets. I can't see the differences between the two creating completely different experiences.

I agree.

Yea....at this point in time.....performance will be whatever with these current and upcoming phones. Battery life is my main thing going forward.

I try to stay outta the benchmarks wars now....but Anandtech did benchmarks of the GS3 and the quad core Exynos was the leader in most categories.

Maybe you mean the S4 vs. the Tegra 3? Om either case....the one that has better battery life will get my money.

Huh? The dual-core is *SLOWER* and wastes 20% *MORE* power.

That's "better"?

It's not even close when 60fps cap is not a factor

they are ONLY close when capped, because it lowers Exynos's scores.

S4 defenders can celebrate all they want but when retail units come out of both versions, its not going to be pretty.

Lol you make it sound like the Exynos is going to be sooooo much better than the S4. Offscreen it will but thats about it. And how many people actually have a TV with 120Hz or higher. Well actually how many people actually uses their phone offscreen to play games cause thats the main benefit of a better gpu. Lol I guess very few.
