Verizon to start Friends & Family
One concern that most people had with the merger of Alltel and Verizon was regarding the My Circle feature. We are happy to report that current Alltel customers will continue to have My Circle 5, 10, and 20 available to them. For Verizon customers, starting Feb 15th, you will also have access to Friends & Family on your Nationwide calling plan, but there are a few requirements. Customers with a Single Line will need to be on a 900 minute plan or higher and can add up to 5 Friends & Family numbers, while Family Share plans of 1400 minutes or higher can add up to 10 numbers. The Friends & Family numbers can include land-line and other cell numbers, such as AT&T, Sprint, and Cingular. The best part is, there is no additional charge for this feature. You can add and change the Friends & Family numbers through the My Verizon site, but the numbers will not be activated until the following day. Business accounts will be offered a similar feature later this quarter.

Not too bad. It's free! Change numbers daily... cool! I kinda thought VZW had to adopt this since they grabbed Alltel.

lol, what do you expect, they're phone arena. They are also the last ones to report it as well.

Too bad Family share 700 min plans aren't included!

if you're already on the lowest plan why would you need it?

Can't afford the higher plans. So a feature like that would really come in handy.

Details about the My Family feature: *** They must be on a single line 900 Min. plan or higher, or FS 1400 Min. plan or higher ( as mentioned above ). *** They must be on a Nationwide Plan *** For Smartphone/Blackberry plans (coming soon), they must be 450 min. or higher *** Domestic Only .... Calls to Canada are not included (someone actually asked me that) *** The FS offer is up to 10 total .... NOT 10 per phone (someone actually asked me that too). IMO, I think VZW is doing this because they are trying to pull customers from AT&T and Sprint (maybe even T-Mo)...obviously, and that's a good thing. But I really think this was the death knell for Alltel. Any Verizon sales rep will be have to be "super rep" in order to sell any plan with more than 900 min. ( single ) or 1400 min ( FS ) ... unless it's a business customer. Imagine, having a 900 minute plan and up to 5 freebies that you frequently call. Those 900 minutes would NEVER be an issue. In a way it looks good because it aims to make Rollover Minutes ( AT&T ) look totally useless, but we will see. I think Sprint might follow suit.

Sprint has a retention offer of 3 #'s any network I been begging them to promote this to no avail, maybe they will do so now and make it 7 #'s to play off 7pm n/w's

I think Sprint will up the ante because, as we all remember, they were the first to announce the Unlimited Talk plans ( albeit they released it "certain" markets ). VZW and AT&T beat them to the punch by releasing that same plan Nationwide. I thnk Sprint's new CEO is definitely in the works to have a plan like this. It's good for competition.

I'm excited about it. Verizon has always had the attitude of 'we charge more and offer less because we're better and we're worth it.' And most of the time I agree. But it is nice to see them offer something like this. Plus it secures the majority of Alltel customers that would try and leave VZW because of My Circle. All it would have taken was another carrier to start offering something like My Circle, and every acquired Alltel customer would jump ship.

This is probably a good move considering Verizon revamped their Inpulse plan as well.
