The Palm Pre is coming to Verizon, I work for a chipset manafacturer. Palm buys from us. If it is Jan or not, I have no idea. There are a couple of chipsets that Palm is buying from us which leads me to believe the Pre on VZW will be global and the ATT verison will be the same minus the CDMA frequencies. Just like they did with the Storm 9500 and 9530, 9500 no CDMA frequency, 9530 has it added.

looks amazing. if the iPhone comes to verizon, I really think verizon will have the best lineup.

eeeeew.... i don't want the iPhone to go to VZW... let the smug apple snobs keep their AT&T service.... VZW's biggest problem with the iphone was the lack of using an sd card for external memory, no interchangible battery, and no in-house technical support for the device... If apple were to budge on this, maybe vzw would get it. But seriously... i don't see what the big deal is with having a back-up battery and sd card... I know it won't look as pretty if you can take the battery out... but what is the big deal?

14. WKlingbeil posted on 15 Jun 2009, 20:37

Well, that's because Apple is a communist company who has to have absolute domination over all of their products. I know little Apple fanboys will come out and say, "Well, it's their product, they do what they want with it." But when Microsoft does anything like that, they cry like you just stole their milk money.

Kiltlifter leys start with a back up battery. The advantage in a back up battery if your phone ddies and no matter how careful someone is the battery will die on you if you dont have the abilty to use a back up battery you have to recharge the installed battery and until it is charged you without a phone. Second a sd card well to be able to have your pictures and media stored there if something happens to your phone nothing is lost. Third I dont know about you if I buy something at a place I would want to be able to go back to that place were I have my service if theres a problem. I would not want to go to a another place for service. Quite honestly I dont think that Apple will budge on that, and neither will VZW so I dont think we will be seeing the iphone in a Verizon store anytime soon, and to that who cares.

actually our data team in the NE Area are testing the Pre right now, it is really wicked although the keypad is seriously small and I dont know if I could give up on my BB habit....but VZW is already testing it so that sort of proves you wrong phone guy. sorry BB Storm FTW

8. belve14 posted on 15 Jun 2009, 12:02

Actually im in the northeast and the only thing they are testing is a survey with the pre and the tour to see what there thoughts are. If im wrong they are testing sprints pre not their own...on top of that nothing is official so IF EVERYONE WOULD LOOK AT THE KEYWORDS OF EVERY ARTICLE THAT SAID THE PRE WAS COMING TO VERIZON IT SAYS EVERYTIME UNOFFICIAL! Get it together lol

The Pre is definitely a nice Smartphone. I had a chance to use one for a little while in a Sprint store. The better Palm does, the better smartphones Palm will put out. Let's see what Rubinstein has planned for Palm. Going to VZW, AT&T and T-Mobile would be the best possible scenario for Palm. I am definitely looking forward to future devices, a bit skeptical of the EOS. Looks like a Centro, not impressed. Hopefully they can take a page from HTC and come up with a smartphone that looks like Touch HD but with WebOS.

13. Kiltlifter posted on 15 Jun 2009, 19:53

don't knock the EOS... many people prefer the candybar style smartphone with a qwerty keypad. granted the pre is basically the same thing, but some people may not like the sliding mechanism and prefer the solid samsung-jack-like approach.

17. PL007 posted on 16 Jun 2009, 08:26

Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking candybar style smartphones. I just don't like the look of the EOS. Now I know its just a sketch and hopefully it looks better when it's finished. There are some really nice candybar smartphones like the BB 8520 for T-Mobile. The BB TOUR & BB BOLD are also good looking candybar smartphones to me as well. And yes the Samsung Jack is a very nice stylish smartphone. Those are nice and hopefully Palm takes a page from BB and Samsung on candybar style phones.

I do like that survey though. "Would you like to sell the Tour or the Pearl Flip on July 13th?" Haha, it just intrigues me that a launch date would be decided based on whether or not employees feel like selling it. "Nah, I'd rather not sell the Tour, let's stick with basic phones, that's our safest bet."

15. The Next posted on 15 Jun 2009, 21:22

It's not what the want to sell, but what they want to use for company phones.
